Toadsworth is an elderly Toad and Princess Peach's longtime steward, introduced in Super Mario Sunshine. He is constantly worrying about the princess and takes care of the Toads. He has an English accent and often utters old-fashioned English phrases like "Tally-ho!" and "Pip pip!", most of which made their debut in Mario Party 7. Before Toadsworth's introduction in Super Mario Sunshine, the Chancellor played a role very similar to his and even sported a similar appearance.
History
Super Mario Sunshine
In Super Mario Sunshine, Toadsworth accompanies Mario, Princess Peach, and an entourage of Toads to Isle Delfino for a vacation. While traveling there, he can be seen daydreaming about the relaxation that he can get at the island as well as about the roller coaster at Pinna Park that he is tempted to ride on, resulting in his ignoring Peach when she attempts to warn him of seeing a doppelganger of Mario in the background of the tour video for the island. However, upon arriving on the island's airstrip, he and the other vacationers find the small island covered with graffiti thanks to the mysterious fiend known as Shadow Mario (who eventually frames Mario of ruining the island).

Toadsworth is Princess Peach's longtime steward, first appearing in Super Mario Sunshine, where he comes along with Princess Peach and Mario to Isle Delfino. He is always worried about the princess and takes care of the Toads. He has a southern English accent and often utters normal English phrases like "Tally-ho!", "Pip pip!" and "By my grandfather's marmalade!", most of which made their debut in Mario Party 7.
After cleaning Delfino Airstrip, Mario and the group are taken to a courthouse on the mainland, where Mario is put on trial for vandalizing Isle Delfino. The prosecutor explains that someone who looks like Mario covered the island with graffiti, and that he is to blame. Peach and Toadsworth attempt to object, but they are overruled, and Mario is found guilty. He is then forced to clean the island, as well as find all the Shine Sprites.

Biography
As Mario attempts to do so to clear his name, Toadsworth at first can be seen simply accompanying Peach around the island. After she is kidnapped by Shadow Mario, he can be found fretting and worrying in various locations. Often, he can be seen reminding Mario to go rescue the princess. After she is rescued, he and the other heroes can be seen finally enjoying the facilities at Isle Delfino as originally planned in the ending credits. Toadsworth presumably returns with the rest of the vacationers to the Mushroom Kingdom later on.
Island Vacation
Toadsworth's first appearance was in Super Mario Sunshine where he accompanied Mario, Princess Peach, and an entourage of Toads to Isle Delfino for a vacation. At first he simply accompanies the Princess around the island. After she is kidnapped by Shadow Mario he can be found fretting and worrying in various locations. After she is rescued he returned with the rest of the vacationers to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Toadsworth replaces Toad as the host of Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros. He gives out items to Mario or Luigi by conjuring up a Roulette Block with his wand. Some of the Toad Houses also give out extra lives to the Mario Bros. by having them play a card match up game. However, most of these houses require Mario (or Luigi) to pay 5 Star Coins in order to enter.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Toadsworth makes a brief appearance in the beginning of the game where he presents Mario and Luigi with a Suitcase. Later he comes to the Beanbean Kingdom himself (along with Princess Peach). He is shown near the end of the game to be good friends with Lady Lima.
In the opening cutscene, multiple models of Toadsworth are used to create the illusion of Toads running around in a panic once the thundercloud strikes Peach's Castle.

Adventures in Rogueport
Mario Golf series
A statue of Toadsworth appears in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on Hole 7 of Peach's Castle Grounds, while Toadsworth himself physically appears in only Mario Golf: Advance Tour on Peach's Castle. A locker containing a fake moustache with his name on the back can also be found in a Marion Clubhouse locker room.

Toadsworth accompanies Princess Peach on her trip to Rogueport during Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He keeps Princess Peach very close to him, but ends up losing her. When Mario comes to Rogueport he meets a frantic Toadsworth who is incredibly worried about the missing Princess. Mario assures Toadsworth that he will save her, and Toadsworth spends the remainder of the game in Rogueport's Inn.

Toadsworth has not made any major appearances in the Mario Kart series. His first Mario Kart appearance is in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, where during the cup's ending ceremony, Toadsworth drives the Parade Kart with the two winning players and takes them to their trophy; aside from this, Toadsworth also appears in the textures for the audience in Waluigi Stadium, but not in later iterations of the course.

In Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, large paper cut out figures of Toadsworth, as well as Toad and Toadette (done in the artwork style of the Yoshi's Island series) can be seen near the entrance of the Trick House section of Yoshi Park 2.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake, Toadsworth briefly appears at the start, where he presents Mario and Luigi with a Suitcase to take on their journey to the Beanbean Kingdom. Later he comes to the Beanbean Kingdom himself (along with Princess Peach). He also provides the Mario Bros. with a spare dress for the Princess just before they set off to Joke's End to rescue the Princess from Bowletta's clutches, anticipating the possibility that she might have damaged it in an attempt to escape. After a while, he spends his time with Peach in the Mushroom Embassy. He is shown near the end of the game to be good friends with Lady Lima.
left

Toadsworth also appears in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. He is with Mario and Luigi when Princess Peach takes an experimental trip back in time, and is paranoid that something terrible will happen. His fears later become justified, as when the time machine returns a Shroob is in it. He promptly faints, and requires a Refreshroom to revive him. He is still confused when he wakes up and accidentally pushes Mario and Luigi into a time-hole. He later teams up with his younger self to teach the Bros. moves and keep Baby Peach entertained while she stays in the future.

Toadsworth also appears in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, playing a larger role in this game than in its predecessor. He is with Mario and Luigi when Princess Peach takes an experimental trip back in time, and is paranoid that something terrible might happen. He eventually faints from shroomshock due to his excess worrying for the princess, creating a comedic scene of Mario getting a refreshroom for the elderly Toad to feel better. His fears later become justified, as when the time machine returns, a Junior Shrooboid is in it. He is soon attacked by the Shrooboid though Mario and Luigi eventually defeat it. He is still confused when he wakes up and accidentally pushes Mario and Luigi into a time hole. He later teams up with his younger self to teach the Bros. new moves (such as the Toadsworth Twist, Bros. Ball, etc.) and keep Baby Peach entertained while she stays in the future.
Toadsworth is indirectly responsible for sending Mario and Luigi into the past from the start, as he had accidentally knocked Luigi into a time hole, causing Mario to go in after him. Near the end of the game, a Shroob character based on Toadsworth called Shroobsworth appears as a common enemy.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey
Toadsworth returns in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its Nintendo 3DS remake. He, along with many other Mushroom Kingdom residents, eventually get swallowed up by Bowser after Fawful tricks Bowser into eating the Vacuum Shroom. He is then found in Pump Works of Bowser's body where he must be rescued by the Mario Bros. Compared to the last game, his role is very small, appearing in various areas, mainly Toad Square. At first, he can often be seen sobbing for the Princess's well being after she is kidnapped by Fawful. After getting over the Princess's well being, and being assured that Mario and Luigi would save her, Toadsworth tries to stop moping and stay strong, and teaches the Mario Bros. about beans. He is shown to be good friends with Toadbert as well. Toadbert and Toadsworth are seen having some tea together while waiting for Bowser's back to heal.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Toadsworth appears in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, where he, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and the Toads are invited to Pi'illo Island for sightseeing. His role is even smaller than in the previous games and is mainly used for comic relief (him worrying about Peach and getting annoyed when Dr. Snoozemore falls asleep). Excluding reissues, Dream Team is the last original game in which Toadsworth physically appears.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Toadsworth accompanies Princess Peach on her trip to Rogueport during Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He keeps Princess Peach very close to him, but ends up losing her. When Mario comes to Rogueport, he meets a frantic Toadsworth who is incredibly worried about the missing Princess. Mario assures Toadsworth that he is going to save her, and Toadsworth spends the remainder of the game in Rogueport's Inn. In the ending, he, Mario, and Princess Peach leave Rogueport on a boat back to the Mushroom Kingdom. Later, after the credits roll, Toadsworth accompanies Princess Peach to Mario's house where she invites Mario to venture back to Rogueport. However, Toadsworth will no longer be present at the inn when playing from a save file where the Shadow Queen has been defeated.

The second RDM issue that Mario receives states that Toadsworth had frequently been seen with the cook Zess T. This issue of the RDM also reports that Zess T. had said, "What's wrong with spending time with my little Toadle-toes?", referring to Toadsworth.

According to an e-mail, Toadsworth is 60 years old (however, mention of his age is omitted in the English version of the remake).

Toadsworth Sets Sail
Mario Tennis series
As a token of his appreciation for all that Mario and his friends had done for the Kingdom, Toadsworth organized an extravagant cruise in traditional Mario Party fashion in Mario Party 7. He was also the host of the boards. However, the cruise was deterred by Bowser, who was angry about his exclusion from the guest list.
Mario Power Tennis / New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis
Toadsworth is the umpire in Mario Power Tennis and its New Play Control! version, where he sits on a high chair and watches characters play. He reminds "not to respond a serve before it bounced once", whenever it is done. During the opening cinematic, Toadsworth is seen at the upper barracks of the Peach Dome with Peach standing by his side during the night of the final match. After Toadsworth announces the remaining contenders, Mario and Luigi against Yoshi and Donkey Kong, Wario and Waluigi in league with Bowser arrive after Yoshi and Donkey Kong fail to show up, which catches Toadsworth off guard. Further turmoil ensues as explosives fly all over the venue, and Toadsworth catches a glimpse of a horde of explosives stowing aboard the underside of Bowser's balloon.

Mario Tennis: Power Tour
Toadsworth appears in Mario Tennis: Power Tour where he, along with Mario, escort Clay and Ace to the Mushroom Kingdom on the Toad Express. He also acts as the umpire as in the previous game for matches taking place in the Peach Dome.

Toad House Host
Yakuman DS
Toadsworth replaces Toad as the host of Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros.. He can give out items to Mario or Luigi if they complete his mini-games.
In Yakuman DS, Toadsworth is the first-ranked and most difficult opponent. He can also be unlocked by beating him in the game. This is the first game where Toadsworth is a playable character.

Super Mario Stadium series
Toadsworth makes a cameo in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! whenever a player wins a cup; he drives the Parade Kart that takes them to their Trophy. He is also the referee in Mario Power Tennis. In the Japan-only game Yakuman DS (a heavily Mario-themed mah-jongg game) he is the first-ranked and most difficult opponent (CPU match) that is unlockable. He finally becomes playable in Mario Superstar Baseball on Peach's team. in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Toadsworth appears as one of the many stickers in the game, as well as having his own trophy.
In the Super Mario Stadium series, Toadsworth is playable in both Mario Superstar Baseball and its sequel, Mario Super Sluggers. He is on Princess Peach's team, the "Peach Monarchs". Throughout the two games, Toadsworth uses a larger version of his cane as his bat, unlike the other playable Toad characters who use regular baseball bats. He is a very skillful fielder in both games and has a great pitch, but he does not hit for power, does not run fast, and has low stamina. Despite his good pitching stats, Toadsworth's pitches tend to move slower than what most Toads can pull off.

Spin-Off Info
During the opening cinematic of Mario Super Sluggers, Toadsworth is seen standing by Peach's side, greeting those who are about to arrive at the Baseball Kingdom on a yacht. In Challenge Mode, Toadsworth frequently worried about Peach's kidnapping and he constantly reminds the player to rescue her. He is first seen near a fountain that is later secured by the statue of Daisy. He watches over the statue, but eventually joins the team when Peach has been rescued. Toadsworth has good chemistry with Peach, Toad, Toadette, Baby Peach, and Pianta, while he has bad chemistry with Goomba, Paragoomba, and Bowser.

Toadsworth also runs the Duty Free Shop in this game, where players can buy merchandise, view figures they purchased, listen to sounds, and view records. ==General information==
Physical appearance
Toadsworth is portrayed as an elderly Toad with a tan complexion and a beige cap with brown spots. He has a puffy, white mustache, although if the player looks in a locker in Mario Golf: Advance Tour, they find a fake mustache labeled "Toadsworth", jokingly implying that his facial hair is Fake moustache. Like other Toads, Toadsworth is short and stout. Despite his age, he is quite energetic. He also speaks with a southern English accent.

He wears a light purple vest with gold buttons that have Toad emblems on them. Layered on top of the vest is a purple, sleeveless jacket that hangs down like a tuxedo with a gold trim. He wears white bottoms underneath and brown, padded shoes like those of all other Toads'. He also wears small, black round glasses and a red bow-tie. He walks around using a stick-like cane that has a brown mushroom cap on top with beige spots on it.

In his younger form, he has a brown mustache, small, curious-looking eyebrows, and the same mushroom cap. His attire is more similar to that of other Toads, being a red vest with a golden trim baring his chest, along with his red bow-tie.

Personality
Toadsworth is a kind character who tries his best to help others, particularly Princess Peach, whom he cares for very deeply, having had a hand in raising her since she was a baby. Toadsworth constantly worries about Peach when she has been kidnapped by Bowser, and while Toadsworth is quick to panic and flee with the other Toads when danger arises, he sometimes tries to stay and protect the princess or offer advice to the Mario Bros. In Super Princess Peach, Toadsworth was originally hesitant to let Peach go to save Mario, out of fear for her safety. Toadsworth is known for addressing many other characters with the "Master" honorific due to his polite nature. Although kind overall, he does have his limits, as after the Shroob threat was over, he privately admits he's glad that his younger counterpart will be off his back, although denies claiming that when Toadsworth the Younger expresses suspicion of his true feelings toward him.

Powers and abilities
Toadsworth's cane appears to possess magical abilities, as in New Super Mario Bros., he could create ? Blocks with it. In addition, he is shown to be able to drive in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, but he has yet to be seen participating in a kart race. He is also skilled at playing mahjong, as seen in Yakuman DS, where he is the highest ranked opponent.

Relationships
Toadsworth's most established relationship is with Princess Peach, but there are discrepancies over the relation between them, not unlike Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong. Some sources claim Toadsworth to be the father of Princess Peach, but it has been stated in games and game booklets that Toadsworth is Peach's attaché and thus is subordinate to her. Additionally, in Mario Superstar Baseball, when naming all of the players on Peach's team, Lakitu says "And... your grandpa?! Oh, pardon me! Venerable Toadsworth!" While not made entirely clear, Lakitu may have at first been mistaken, but then corrected himself. Peach also addresses him as "Toadsworth" (not as "father" or "grandfather") in Super Mario Sunshine. Regardless of his position, he cares deeply for the Princess, very much in a fatherly manner, and has taken care of her since she was a baby, similar to Kamek and Bowser's relationship. They also have good chemistry with each other in the Mario Baseball series.

Relationship to Peach
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
There is much confusion surrounding Peach and Toadsworth's relationship. It is said on Nintendo.com's page for Super Mario Sunshine that he is Peach's father, which would make him King Toadstool. However, it has been stated in games and game booklets that Toadsworth is Peach's attaché and thus, is subordinate to her (while if he were King, he would be the ruling monarch). Peach addresses him as "Toadsworth" (not as "Father" or "Grandfather") in Super Mario Sunshine.
{{Spirit
The fact that Toadsworth is a Toad while Peach is a human makes it doubtful that the two are biologically related (from a scientific perspective). However, the presence of Grandma Toadstool in Super Mario RPG poses a similar problem as she is also a Toad (though "Gramma" could simply be a term of endearment for the elderly Toad).

*Toadsworth: "Princess Peach's elderly retainer who gifted the partygoers with a vacation cruise."
*Toadsworth is voiced by Charles Martinet, the same voice for Mario and Luigi.
*In Japan, the character is known as "Kinojii", a portmanteau of kinoko (the Japanese word for mushroom), and ojii (a Japanese colloquialism for an older man), although "Kinopio" (known as "Toad" in the U.S.) could also be used since the character is himself a "Kinopio."
*An e-mail in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door states that Toadsworth is sixty years old.
*In Super Mario RPG, there is a character known as the Chancellor, and in Paper Mario there's a Minister. Both are looking strikingly similar to Toadsworth, wearing similar outfits and having almost identical mustaches. Also, all three characters' political rankings and personalities are nearly identical, save for Toadsworth's British behavior. It's possible that Toadsworth was modeled after the character of the Chancellor or Minister, or that he actually is the Chancellor and/or Minister, with a slight outfit change, glasses, and a first name. This has yet to be confirmed.
*He has appeared in only one Mario Kart and only one Mario Party so far, both of which were games for the GameCube.

Master Mario! Master Luigi! You must save Princess Peach!”
Toadsworth, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

Toadsworth is an elderly Toad and Princess Peach's longtime steward, introduced in Super Mario Sunshine. He is constantly worrying about the princess and takes care of the Toads. He has an English accent and often utters old-fashioned English phrases like "Tally-ho!" and "Pip pip!", most of which made their debut in Mario Party 7. Before Toadsworth's introduction in Super Mario Sunshine, the Chancellor played a role very similar to his and even sported a similar appearance.

History[edit]

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario Sunshine[edit]

Toadsworth and Mario conversing in the opening cutscene of Super Mario Sunshine

New Super Mario Bros.[edit]

Toadsworth's role in New Super Mario Bros. is being the host of the Toad House

In the opening cutscene, multiple models of Toadsworth are used to create the illusion of Toads running around in a panic once the thundercloud strikes Peach's Castle.[2]

Mario Golf series[edit]

A statue of Toadsworth appears in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on Hole 7 of Peach's Castle Grounds, while Toadsworth himself physically appears in only Mario Golf: Advance Tour on Peach's Castle. A locker containing a fake moustache with his name on the back can also be found in a Marion Clubhouse locker room.

Mario Kart series[edit]

Mario Kart: Double Dash!![edit]

Award Ceremony
Toadsworth driving in the Parade Kart in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Mario Kart Arcade GP 2[edit]

In Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, large paper cut out figures of Toadsworth, as well as Toad and Toadette (done in the artwork style of the Yoshi's Island series) can be seen near the entrance of the Trick House section of Yoshi Park 2.

Mario & Luigi series[edit]

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[edit]

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time[edit]

See also: Toadsworth the Younger
Toadsworth's artwork in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Present day Toadsworth

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey[edit]

Mario and Luigi find Toadsworth in the Pump Works in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team[edit]

Toadsworth as he appears in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]

Sprite of Toadsworth
Toadsworth in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Mario Tennis series[edit]

Mario Power Tennis / New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis[edit]

Toadsworth can be seen reffing a game in Mario Power Tennis

Mario Tennis: Power Tour[edit]

Toadsworth appears in Mario Tennis: Power Tour where he, along with Mario, escort Clay and Ace to the Mushroom Kingdom on the Toad Express. He also acts as the umpire as in the previous game for matches taking place in the Peach Dome.

Yakuman DS[edit]

In Yakuman DS, Toadsworth is the first-ranked and most difficult opponent. He can also be unlocked by beating him in the game. This is the first game where Toadsworth is a playable character.

Super Mario Stadium series[edit]

Toadsworth prepares to bat in Mario Super Sluggers.
Toadsworth batting in Mario Super Sluggers

Mario Party 7[edit]

Party Cruise from Mario Party 7
Toadsworth as the host in Mario Party 7

Toadsworth's only physical appearance in the Mario Party series is Mario Party 7, where he plays a role during the story. As a token of his appreciation for all that Mario and his friends have done for the Kingdom, Toadsworth organizes an extravagant cruise for them in traditional Mario Party fashion. He is also the host of the boards. However, the cruise is deterred by Bowser, who is furious about his exclusion from the guest list. Toadsworth also runs the Duty Free Shop in this game, where players can buy merchandise, view figures they purchased, listen to sounds, and view records. In the Neon Heights board, a cardboard cut-out of himself appears in the shooting game where if shot, the minigame ends and the player earns no coins.

Though he has no other Mario Party appearances, Toadsworth may have been planned to appear in Mario Party 8 as his model and two voice clips from Mario Party 7 remain unused in the game's files. Toadsworth also cameos in the Collection mode of Mario Party: The Top 100.

Super Princess Peach[edit]

Toadsworth reappears in Super Princess Peach, where he is seen accompanying Princess Peach on her stroll while Bowser's minions attack Peach's Castle and capture the Mario Bros. As Peach sets off to rescue them, Toadsworth initially objects but then gives her the umbrella Perry, whom he had bought from a shop before the events of the game, to accompany her. He is also a guitarist for the Peach Hit Five.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

Toadsworth in the Super Smash Bros. series appears only in the form of collectible items. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there are two stickers of Toadsworth, depicting his artworks from Super Mario Sunshine and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and boosting the user's attack power by 10 points and launch power by 5 points, respecitvely. Super Smash Bros. Brawl also has a trophy of Toadsworth, which can be randomly obtained in a single-player mode. Another trophy of Toadsworth appears in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and can be unlocked by defeating eight or more fighters in Cruel Smash. A Novice-class support spirit of Toadsworth appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and fighters equipped with it will start battles with a Ramblin' Evil Mushroom. The spirit's puppet fighter is Mario on the Princess Peach's Castle stage.

Fortune Street[edit]

“Oh dear! I think I spent too much gold shopping here. Toadsworth will never let me live this down!”
Toad, Fortune Street

While Toadsworth himself does not appear in Fortune Street, Toad provides reference to him throughout the game through his quotations. It is implied that Toadsworth may have some authority over Toad as he appears to be frightened of what Toadsworth would think of his choices at times throughout the game. One of Princess Peach's quotes mentions him as well, where she states that she may need to turn to Toadsworth for financial advice.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie[edit]

Toadsworth appears in early concept artwork for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.[3] The Toad General has a similar role to Toadsworth's in the final film.

Other appearances[edit]

Play Nintendo[edit]

In Mario Reads Your Letters episodes 5 and 7 uploaded by Play Nintendo, Toadsworth's name appears as one of Mario's email contacts on his computer with the subject "Long time no see".[4][5]

General information[edit]

Physical appearance[edit]

Toadsworth is portrayed as an elderly Toad with a tan complexion and a beige cap with brown spots. He has a puffy, white mustache, although if the player looks in a locker in Mario Golf: Advance Tour, they find a fake mustache labeled "Toadsworth", jokingly implying that his facial hair is fake.

Personality[edit]

Powers and abilities[edit]

Toadsworth's cane appears to possess magical abilities, as in New Super Mario Bros., he could create ? Blocks with it. In addition, he is shown to be able to drive in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, but he has yet to be seen participating in a kart race. He is also skilled at playing mahjong, as seen in Yakuman DS, where he is the highest ranked opponent.

Relationships[edit]

Toadsworth's most established relationship is with Princess Peach, but there are discrepancies over the relation between them, not unlike Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong. Some sources claim Toadsworth to be the father of Princess Peach,[6] but it has been stated in games and game booklets that Toadsworth is Peach's attaché and thus is subordinate to her.

This faithful aide to Princess Peach made his debut in Super Mario Sunshine. His name is perfect for a personal aide too! All the years of service seem to have given him some leeway when it comes to rules—whenever he steps up to the plate in baseball, he uses his walking stick instead of a bat! (American English)
This fellow made his debut in Super Mario Sunshine. He's been Peach's faithful aide for many years, and he even has a suitably servantly name for the job. When he plays baseball, he steps up to the plate holding his stick instead of a bat. It seems the rules of baseball are pretty lax in Mario's world! (British English)
