The Star Panel is an item in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake. This item is obtained by Mario and Luigi in the Energy Hold inside Bowser's body. Once all six of the pieces are put together, the Mario Bros. can access a door, into which Durmite escaped. In each of the areas of the Energy Hold, one piece of the Star Panel can be activated by hitting a special block. Consequently, hitting the block again deactivates the corresponding piece. There are three different types of Star Panel shapes that can be used: inverted triangle, star-shaped, and oddly shaped. The Star Panel can be received only by using the Boo-ray Machine in the Tower of Yikk when it is turned on. The Star Panel is ideally one of the most important key items in Bowser's Inside Story.
There is a glitch where occasionally, upon the player completing one of the sections in the Energy Hold, the Star Panel does not appear, resulting in a softlock.[citation needed]
