Regen
Regeneration, known internally as Gradual[1] or Regen, refers to two similar status conditions that appear across Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Super Paper Mario, and Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
A character with HP Regen automatically recovers Heart Points (HP), while FP Regen automatically recovers Flower Points (FP). The latter effect is only present in The Thousand-Year Door, as Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star do not feature Flower Points.
History[edit]
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]
HP Regen[edit]
A character affected by this condition will recover a small amount of HP at the end of every turn for the duration of the effect.
The condition can be acquired from consuming a Slow Mushroom or Couple's Cake to recover 2 HP for 10 turns, a Meteor Meal to recover 2 HP for 3 turns, or Mushroom Broth to recover 2 HP for 5 turns. Using a Mystery also has a chance to bestow this condition, acting as Slow Mushroom.
The Lucky Start badge has the possibility of bestowing this condition on Mario at the start of battle, healing 2 HP for 3 turns.
FP Regen[edit]
A character affected by this condition will recover a small amount of FP at the end of every turn for the duration of the effect.
The condition can be acquired from consuming Gradual Syrup to recover 2 FP for 10 turns.
The Lucky Start badge has the possibility of bestowing this condition on Mario at the start of battle, healing 2 FP for 3 turns.
Super Paper Mario[edit]
As Flower Points do not exist in Super Paper Mario, Gradual Syrup's function has changed to regenerate 20 HP over time. Heartful Cake has been changed to regenerate 9 HP.
The player character can also consume a Long-Last Shake to regenerate up to 10-20 HP, depending on the success of the Action Command. Dayzee Syrup, Sap Syrup, and Stamina Juice all regenerate 13 HP, in addition to other effects.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]
The Big 1-UP and Big Shiny 1-UP Stickers will recover HP at the end of each turn.
Mario & Luigi franchise[edit]
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team[edit]
Mario and Luigi can equip Angel Bangles to give themselves this status effect in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, which restores 20 hit points and 10 special points at the start of their turn. The effect can be dispelled temporarily by stunning the wearer of the Angel Bangle or setting him on fire, but comes back when the victim recovers from these effects. There is also the HP Bangle which restores only hit points and can be gained from a Hermite Crab or a shop in Wakeport, the HP Bangle DX which can be gained from Broque Madame's shop in Dreamy Driftwood Shore and functions as an improved version of the HP Bangle, the BP Bangle which only restores special points and can be gained from the Silver Shop in the Real world Driftwood Shore, and the BP Bangle DX which is an improved version of the BP Bangle and can be obtained at Mushrise Park and Dozing Sands.
Beef Cloud also has a real-time version during his battle, recovering some health once every five seconds while he is asleep.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership[edit]
When it hunkers at around 75% hit points, Sharpcask gains this status effect in conjunction with DEF-Up, recovering some health every turn. If Luigi performs his Luigi Logic successfully, Sharpcask will get smashed by crates, losing these status effects and getting the Dizzy effect along with DEF-Down instead.
