List of beanholes in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

This article is about the beanholes in the original game. For the Bean Hollows in the remake, see List of Bean Hollows in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey.

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Mario and Luigi can collect beans from beanholes – flashing dots underground in Bowser's body and X-shaped bean spots on the ground of the overworld – by using Drill Bros. and jumping out at the spots. There are 251 beans in total, though some are collected from characters rather than beanholes. The Tunnel, Tower of Yikk, Project K, the underwater section of Blubble Lake, and all of Bowser's body (besides Energy Hold and Airway) do not have any beanholes at all.

In this section, “Heart,” “Special,” and “Power” stand for “Heart Bean,” “Special Bean,” and “Power Bean,” respectively.

Energy Hold

In the area corresponding to the bottom-left corner of the Star Panel, there is a cave leading to a treasure room, which requires the Star Panel with all but the two bottom corners for entrance. In the room are ? Blocks containing 10 Coins, a Star Candy and the Special Boots. There are also three beans beneath the last ? Block. From left to right: Heart, Heart, Special
In the area corresponding to the upper-left corner of the Star Panel, there is an exit to the upper-right of the big maze that leads to the upper area of the next scene. There will be a Rally Block containing four Attack Pieces. Beneath the Rally Block are five beans. From left to right: Heart, Heart, Special, Heart, Heart

Airway

Toad Town

In the Squid Fit area to the east of Toad Town, a beanhole can be found in the southeast corner of the south chunk. Heart
Another beanhole can be found on the platform with ? Blocks in the northwest corner of the south chunk. Heart
In the plaza with a spring just before Peach's Castle, a Toad will teach Mario and Luigi to dig out the bean on the platform in the northwest corner. Heart
In the same chunk, another beanhole can be found in the southwest area where there is grass. Power
In the Toad residential quarter west of the plaza, a beanhole can be found east of the house behind the fountain. Special
In the same chunk, another bean can be found in the southeast corner of the area within the wall. Heart
Two more beans can be found near and above the air vent in the southwest corner of the whole chunk. Heart, Power
After Mario and Luigi learn to spit water, they can put out the fire in the fireplace of the northwesternmost house in the chunk and find three beans in the new area. Power x3
In the area west of Toad Town there is a small wood. Two beanholes can be found on the ground near the town. From north to south: Special, Heart
In the exit chunk to Blubble Lake, a beanhole can be found under the blorb-infected Toad in the northeast area. Special
The player can get beans by collecting Mushroom Balls and giving them to the PR Toad in Toad Town shopping mall. 12 Mushroom Balls: Heart x5 13 Mushroom Balls: Special x5 14 Mushroom Balls: Power x5

Toad Town Caves

Blubble Lake

In the west area of Blubble Lake, where the ship ended up as rafts, there is a beanhole in the southeast corner of the chunks near where the Koopa Corps is trapped. Heart
In the southwest chunk with an exit to Cavi Cape, there is a beanhole in a northeast corner. Heart
Take the northeast exit of the same chunk, there will be an area with a pipe to Pipe Yard, two ? Blocks containing Super Mushrooms x2 and a single 50-Coin, as well as a beanhole in the north corner. Special
By the northeast sides of the lake, there is a shortcut path across the whole area. In the east section there are two Brick Blocks surrounded by seven beanholes. From northwest, counterclockwise: Special, Special, Heart, Power, Heart, Heart, Heart
In the southeast of the lake there is an island with another pipe to Pipe Yard. In the four corners of the island are four beanholes. From northwest, counterclockwise: Heart, Power, Special, Heart
The same island is linked to a smaller island in the north where there is a beanhole. Power
Inside the wooden tree to the northeast of the lake area, a beanhole can be found on one of the pillars. Power
In the chunk where the Tower of Yikk resides, there is a beanhole in the northwest corner. Heart
In the chunk west of the Tower of Yikk one, there is a beanhole near the Save Block. Special
In the chunk to the northwest of the Tower of Yikk, there are three beanholes near the brick in the southeast corner. From west to east: Heart, Heart, Special

Plack Beach

Starting from Cavi Cape there is a path going north. The second scene on the path (counting the entrance) branches to the west where there are three beanholes. The first one is on the high column Mario and Luigi can climb. Heart

In the third scene on the path across the beach, where Broque Monsieur used to be trapped on the island, there are two beanholes in the west. From north to south: Heart, Special
To the west of the third scene there are five beanholes. The first one is in the corner to the south of the two ? Blocks containing coins. Special
Climbing the rocks on the north of the scene, the player will find the second in a gap somewhere in the center. Heart
Over the gap, there is a hole in the far upper-east. Near the hole is the third beanhole. Heart
Jumping down the hole will reveal two more beanholes. The lower one can also be reached from the entrance directly. From up to down: Special, Heart
The fourth scene on the path across the beach branches to the west. At the turning point leading to an area filled with ? Blocks and spikes, there is a beanhole in the south. Power
In the sixth scene, or the next-to-last scene up to the Sea Pipe Statue, a beanhole can be found in the southwest corner. Heart
In the same scene, two beanholes can be found on the rock path behind Kuzzle's house. From west to east: Heart, Special
In the first scene to the east of the Sea Pipe Statue, a beanhole can be found at the end of the rock path in the northwest. Power
In the second scene to the east of the Sea Pipe Statue, the player needs to use Balloon Mario to reach the beanhole on the column in the north. Power
In the second scene of the cliff area, there is a beanhole on the sandy ground in the northwest corner. Power
In the third scene of the cliff area, there is a beanhole near the lower air vent. Special
Mario and Luigi can earn beans from Kuzzle by doing puzzles from Puzzle Sacks. First to third time: Heart x1, Special x1, Power x1 Fourth time: Heart x10, Special x10, Power x10

Dimble Wood

There is a straight path with exits to Plack Beach and Bumpsy Plains in the east part of the woods. The southernmost scene on the path branches to the east. In the branched-off area, there is a beanhole in the northwest corner. Heart
At the end of the branch, there is a beanhole near the Attack Piece block. Power
The second section of the main path from southern Plack Beach is where Broque Monsieur's and Broggy's shops are. On the southwest hill of the section, there is a beanhole near the ? Block. Heart
There is an area to the west of the same section that is guarded by a Wiggler and home to some Sockops. In the first scene to the west of the main path, which is where the Wiggler is, one beanhole can be found on the hill to the west of the Wiggler. Special
The other beanhole can be found on top of the rock wall Wiggler lives in. Heart
In the second scene to the west (where there are some walls), a beanhole can be found in the southwest corner. Heart
In the third scene to the west (which is filled with thorns), a beanhole can be found in the lower area of the platform in the northeast. Heart
In the scene to the north of the third scene west of main path, one beanhole can be found in the east part of the scene. Heart
The other beanhole can be found in the southwest corner. Heart
In the fourth scene to the west of the main path, one beanhole can be found in the northwest corner. Heart
The other beanhole can be found just to the west of the tree in the center. Heart
Returning to the main path, in the third section (counting from southern Plack Beach) there is a beanhole on the hill in the southeast of the scene. Heart
In the first scene to the west of the same section, a beanhole can be found beyond the wooden bars in the northwest. Special
In the second scene to the west of the same section, where there is a forest, there is a secret area in the north where the player can find a beanhole along with the DX SP Socks. Heart
In the west end the third section of the main path, there is an Attack Piece block to the north of the Launch Fit board. A beanhole can be found near the ? Block containing a 1-Up Deluxe in the north area. Special
In the third section on the main path from northern Bumpsy Plains, there is a beanhole in the northeast corner, beyond the wooden bars. Special
In the northernmost scene on the main path, there is a beanhole in the southeast corner. Heart
There are three scenes in a row with carrot farms in the northeast area of Dimble Wood. In the west one, the player can find a beanhole to the east of the southernmost ? Block (which contains multiple Five Coins). Heart
From the west area of the three scenes with carrot farms, take the north exit and the player can find a 1-Up Deluxe and a Star Candy in ? Blocks, and a beanhole on the ground. Power
In the center area of the three scenes with carrot farms, a beanhole can be found on the highest hill. Heart
To the northeast of the three scenes with carrot farms, there is another farm growing the Giga-carrot. Two beanholes can be found north of the carrot slot. From west to east: Power, Special
To the south of the three scenes with carrot farms, there is a scene with two bridges. A beanhole is in the northeast corner of the bridge scene. Special
Go one scene east and there is a beanhole in the southeast corner. Heart.
In the northwest area of the wood, there is a "hub" scene with five exits. A beanhole can be found under the arch in the west area of the scene. Special
In the scene to the south of the hub, there is a beanhole on the highest hill in the center, surrounded by flowers. Heart
In the scene to the southeast of the hub (where there is a pipe to Pipe Yard), there is a bean near the entrance, surrounded by flowers. Heart
In the scene to the west of the hub, there is a bean in the southwest part of the scene. Heart
In the scene to the north of the previously mentioned one (where Bowser landed in the beginning of the game), there is a bean in the northeast corner.

Peach's Castle

In Peach's Castle Garden there are several chunks with green grass. Among the southernmost three, the one in the middle has a beanhole in the southwest corner, in the shadow of the pillars. Power
In the east chunk among the southernmost three, one beanhole in the southeast corner (within the walls). Heart
The other beanhole is south of the first stair by the south corridor. Power
In the west chunk among the southernmost three, one beanhole can be found in the northeast corner of the chunk. Special

In the chunk where the door to the castle is, one beanhole can be found in the northeast of the southwesternmost statue, and one in the southwest of the southeasternmost one. Special, Heart
In the chunk west of the castle door, two beanholes are in the southwest corner. From west to east: Special, Heart
The other bean is inside the fenced area north part of the chunk. Heart
In the chunk to the northwest of the castle door, where there is an air vent and a hidden Attack Piece block on platforms, the player can either use Balloon Mario or Spin Jump to access a castle ledge with two ? Blocks containing Max Syrup Jar and DX POW Gloves. Two beanholes can be found in the southwest corner of the ledge. From north to south: Heart, Power
In the northeasternmost chunk on the map of the garden area, where Junker is fought and Bowser learns the Spike Ball move, a beanhole can be found in the grass. Special
On the first floor of the castle, in the east beanch which Mario and Luigi can access, three beanholes can be found in the northwesternmost chunk within that branch. Heart x3
In the same branch there is a room with bookshelves. A beanhole can be found in the northwest corner of the chunk. Heart

Cavi Cape

In the southwesternmost scene where Bowser starts, there is a beanhole to the right of the hole. Power
There is a grassy area blocked by a spider web in the west. In the area Bowser can find Brick Blocks containing Red-Hot Fangs and the Judge Shell. Mario and Luigi can dig the bean there. Heart
There is an opening in the northeast of the grassy area. Going northeast without climbing the stairs, the player can find a beanhole a little to the south. Heart
Climbing the stairs in the same scene, the player can find another beanhole in the end. Heart
In the scene west of the Chakroad in the grassy area, there is a beanhole in the northwest corner. Heart
In the same scene, there is a beanhole near the exit in the southwest corner. Special
Taking the southwest exit in the same scene, there is another grassy hill to the southwest. One beanhole can be found in the northwest corner. Power

In the scene where the Chakroad is in the grassy area, there is a beanhole to the northwest of the big hole on the ground. Power

Bumpsy Plains

In the western grassland in the center area of the plains, the player should drill near the rock in the northeast and go east through the opening of the rock. They will arrive at the small area in the northwest of the next scene where there is a beanhole. Heart
In the same scene, the player should use Bowser's body slam to break the crack on the northwest hill, then have Mario and Luigi enter the underground area beneath the hill to collect the bean in the northwesternmost column there. Power

Bowser Path
