Goombella in Peril, as seen in the Nintendo Switch remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Peril is a status effect that appears in Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (and its Nintendo Switch remake), and Super Paper Mario. It occurs when Mario or any of his partners go down to exactly one HP, causing a bubble with the word "Peril" to begin flashing next to them. A high-pitched alarm-like sound can also be heard as an alert that the player should use a healing item. Badges that activate while Mario or his partner are in Danger also activate while they are in peril, and select badges can be used only when Mario or his partner is in the Peril status.
