This is a list of glitches in the Nintendo Switch remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Unless otherwise noted, all names are conjectural.
Glitches[edit]
Badge duplication[edit]
The player can now duplicate badges by holding the maximum number of badges and picking one up from the floor. If the player tosses a badge then picks it back up, the player still holds it. By going to the Lovely Howz of Badges, the player can then buy the badge again while still holding the original one, thus cloning it. This works even for unique badges, including Simplifier, with interesting effects if multiple are equipped at once.[1]
Bobbery's house clip[edit]
Usually, Mario can only enter Bobbery's house by going down the chimney. However, if the player uses Paper Mode between Bobbery's house and the Trouble Center and enters Tube Mode at the right spot, Mario will clip inside of Bobbery's house. The camera will remain outside the house until Mario enters Bobbery's bedroom. If Mario reenters the main room, the camera will show both the inside of the house and part of Rogueport.[2]
Early Blue Key[edit]
When the party spots a Jabbi holding the Blue Key and before leaving the room, Koops can grab the Blue Key by using his ability very close to the exit the Jabbi went in, which results in possible softlocks and glitched cutscenes.[3]
Early Double Dip[edit]
Mario can reach the chest containing Double Dip in Rogueport without Boat Mode by jumping at just the right position in Tube Mode.[2]
Frankly's house out of bounds[edit]
Using Yoshi Kid, Mario can clip outside of Frankly's house and walk out of bounds, though everything besides the interior of Frankly's house is pitch black. If Mario reenters Frankly's house, all other buildings, pipes, NPCs, etc. will be invisible.[2]
Goomba trio skip[edit]
The fight between the three Goombas during Mario's first visit to Rogueport Underground can be skipped by jumping at the right angle between the pipe platform and moving platform.[2]
Hot Dog Stand jump[edit]
By jumping on top of the ice cream cone standee in Paper Mode, Mario can jump onto the Hot Dog Stand without having to use Plane Mode.[2]
Moving with textbox[edit]
By hammering Ms. Mowz or Goombella twice and having Mario distance himself from her and mashing the Hammer while pressing to activate her ability, the player can freely move while her textbox is open. This leads to loading zone and cutscene triggers not working, camera glitches, crashes, and more effects. A similar glitch can be used with flippable floor panels and Yoshi, where the player can ride Yoshi under the ground and travel out of bounds and use Spring Jump. Combining this glitch in Poshley Heights, Mario can steal badges from the Lovely Howz of Badges. These glitches are fixed in version 1.0.1.[4][5]
Star Piece without Ultra Boots[edit]
Mario can reach the pipe to the abandoned building in Rogueport Underground without using the Spring Jump by jumping at just the right position in Tube Mode.[2]
