A Spiky Parabuzzy, also shortened to S. Parabuzzy, is a combination of the traits of Para-Beetles and Spike Tops, being able to fly and being immune to jumps and fire.

History[edit]

Paper Mario series[edit]

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and its Nintendo Switch remake, they are mainly seen in the underground rooms in Riverside Station and midway through the Pit of 100 Trials, at around floors 41-49. Since they have both wings and a spiked shell, they cannot be jumped on or attacked with hammers; due to them being a type of Buzzy Beetle, fire and explosion attacks cannot hurt them. Mario needs a Spike Shield, a Hammer Throw badge, or an item to attack them safely, as well as having a partner who can attack air enemies without touching the spike. Spiky Parabuzzies lose their wings when stomped with Spike Shield equipped, causing them to become regular Spike Tops.

Super Paper Mario[edit]

In Super Paper Mario, Spiky Parabuzzies appear on the Overthere Stair and in Castle Bleck. They often fly up and down, trying to block Mario's path near a pit. If the player uses Carrie, however, they can step on them without getting hurt.

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario Maker series[edit]

Spiky Parabuzzies later appear in Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, where they can be produced by giving a Spike Top wings. If wings are applied, they will fly in a straight line, and jumping on them will cause damage, except if using a Goomba's Shoe or Yoshi. Like Para-Beetles, they fly upward whenever something lands on their shell, and depending on the style may or may not have visible limbs. Also, like their wingless counterparts, Spiky Parabuzzies with blue shells will move much faster than those with red shells.

In Super Mario Maker 2, Spiky Parabuzzies appear with the same properties as in the predecessor.

Log A Buzzy with wings and a spike. It flies, so a hammer won't reach. It's hard to find attacks that work.
Tattle That's a Spiky Parabuzzy. It's a Buzzy with a spike and wings. Max HP is 5, Attack is 3, and Defense is 4. Hey! The same stats as a normal Buzzy! Fire and explosions don't work on Buzzies, in case you've forgotten. ...And this one flies in the air AND has a spike. What a total pain. So...you'd better use an item or a special move.

Tattle That's a Spiky Parabuzzy. As you can see, this Buzzy has wings and a spike... Max HP is 1, Attack is 2, and Defense is 3. Even flames won't scorch its hard shell... With the spike and wings and hard shell, I just don't know how to get rid of it... It's a pain to deal with, but still quite adorable...
