Olivia, Paper Mario: The Origami King

The Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle is a Paper Macho Soldier boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King. "Paper Mistake" is derived from "papier mâché" and "mistake." It is fought in Bowser's Castle and precedes the battle with Scissors. The Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle resembles a large Buzzy Beetle with a gray shell, covered in the faces of Bowser's minions, including Buzzy Beetle, Goomba, Hammer Bro, Koopa Troopa, Spike, Spiny and Shy Guy faces.

A Collectible Treasure of Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle (No. 117) can be found inside Origami Castle.

Battle[edit]

In its first phase, the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle can form Dry Bones heads out of the faces on its body. These fly towards Mario and circle him, with heads that glow red flying faster than the white ones. If Mario is hit by this attack, he takes 10 damage and the faces go back on the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle. He can destroy the head by hitting it with the hammer, causing the faces to fall on the floor.

After Mario destroys enough Dry Bones heads, Kamek speaks to Mario from the front of the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle, instructing him to peel his face off so its attacks are weakened. During this phase, the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle fires magic blasts at Mario, which make it dizzy. During this time, Mario can start peeling Kamek off its body. Once the faces on the magic blast go back on its body, it goes into its shell and starts spinning, pushing Mario away and dealing damage if he does not run far enough away from it.

Once Kamek has been rescued from the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle's body, it starts its third and final phase of attacks. Here, it behaves like a regular Paper Macho Buzzy Beetle, spinning in its shell around the arena. After some time it will stop and stand up in a dizzy state, giving Mario a window to hit the King Olly seal. After attacking it two more times, the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle is defeated.
