Peepas are Boo-like enemies debuting in Super Mario 3D Land. They are small, white ghosts with stubby arms, two teeth, black eyes with white pupils, and a smiling mouth. They are somewhat comparable to Eeries from Super Mario World in that they travel in predetermined paths. Certain appearances like New Super Mario Bros. 2 give them a bluish glow, similar to Boos.

History[edit]

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario 3D Land[edit]

PeepaSM3DL.png

Peepas appear only in the Ghost House levels in Super Mario 3D Land. Peepas often appear with Boos, although they do not go after Mario or Luigi. Peepas either remain in place or, similar to Octoboos, sometimes circle an area. A Peepa can only be defeated by Invincible Mario.

New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]

Circling Peepas in New Super Mario Bros. 2

Peepas return in New Super Mario Bros. 2, now behaving like the Circling Boo Buddies of Super Mario World. They first show up in World 2-Ghost House. Peepas carry ghost-coasters in World 3-Ghost House when Mario or Luigi stands on one, and though these Peepas do not damage the player character, they do tilt the ghost-coaster and disappear with it upon reaching the end point.

Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]

Peepas reappear in Super Mario 3D World and its port. Unlike before, it takes a Light Box to defeat a Peepa, which makes a terrified face when shone at and a distorted sound upon being defeated. Captain Toad's headlamp in the Captain Toad's Adventures levels, exclusive to the enhanced port, can defeat Peepas and Boos in the manner of a Light Box.

Super Mario Maker 2[edit]

Peepas are placeable enemies in only the Super Mario 3D World style of Super Mario Maker 2, though their behavior is derived from New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Mario Party series[edit]

Mario Party: Island Tour[edit]

Peepas appear in a few minigames of Mario Party: Island Tour. They are displayed in a scene of Get Reel, chasing Mario down a corridor.[1] The goal of Horror Harriers is to avoid them for as long as possible. The Peep a Peepa minigame involves shining a light on them for as long as possible.[2]

Mario Party 10[edit]

Peepas are the main obstacles of the minigame Peepa Panic in Mario Party 10.

Mario Party: Star Rush[edit]

“Whaaa?! Two of the same person? What is this madness?!”
World 2-2 and World 2-3, Mario Party: Star Rush

Peepas are obstacles in the minigames House of Boos and King Boo's Light Smite of Mario Party: Star Rush, where they grab players on contact and return them to the start. They are also the main obstacles of World 2-2 and World 2-3 in Mario Party: Star Rush. They disguise themselves as a duplicate ally at first, but when a player approaches, the Peepa reveals itself and gives the Cursed Dice Block. The Peepa disappears after some time.

Super Mario Party[edit]

A Peepa can be summoned by using the Peepa Bell in Super Mario Party. It targets a player for a turn, taking a coin away each time they move.

Mario Party Superstars[edit]

Various Peepas appear in the Horror Land game board of Mario Party Superstars.

Super Mario Party Jamboree[edit]

Peepas reappear in Super Mario Party Jamboree in the minigame Gate Key-pers and as a shopkeeper at Rainbow Galleria, selling only Boo Bells.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]

Peepas are enemies in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and its ports. They behave identically as in Super Mario 3D World, except Peepas are defeated if shone with Captain Toad's or Toadette's headlamps for long enough, though the process is shortened under the effects of a Double Cherry.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

It has been requested that more images be uploaded for this section. Remove this notice only after the additional images have been added. Specifics: Appearance in Super Mario-kun

A Peepa appears in volume 46 of Super Mario-kun. It encourages a Tail Boo to scare Mario. At the end of the chapter, the Peepa gets buried by an avalanche along with the Tail Boo, the Tail Boo's father, and the Bros.

Mario Tennis Aces[edit]

Dr. Mario World[edit]

Image of a Peepa from Dr. Mario World

Peepas appear as assistants in Dr. Mario World. Their stage mode effect increases the player's base score for every green virus that is eliminated. Their versus mode effect grants a chance one of the viruses that appear is transformed into an exploder when all viruses in the player's play area are eliminated. The amount of points gained and the chance of an exploder appearing are increased at higher levels, starting from 50 points and 20% respectively to 200 points and 100% respectively. Peepas also appear as background objects in World 4 when all stages are cleared.

Unused appearances[edit]

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit]

Peepas were going to appear in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, but they were removed from the game for unknown reasons; however, the unused Peepa graphics can be found with the Boo graphics.
