A Blue Switch[1] is an object in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. It has a symbol with four blocks on it, symbolizing that when the whole party is on top of it, it will be pressed into the ground, and will open up a passageway in front of the bros. so they may progress forward. They are common throughout the game, in every area, in fact. It has a rarer variation, the Yellow Switch, which functions identically except it only needs the brothers to activate it.
Blue Switches also appear in the Paper Mario series. Blue Switches are one-time use switches that activate an important change in the environment, such as a bridge being built or a staircase appearing. If one is present in the environment, it needs to be hit in order to move on through the area.
