“The Brandenburg Gate was built for King Frederick William II of Brandenburg in 1788. The Gate was designed to resemble the Greek Acropolis. The wide center passageway was used only for royal carriages. On top of the Gate, the Goddess of Victory rides a four-horsed chariot made of copper. The Brandenburg Gate became a very real reminder of the city's division between East and West Germany when its entryways were boarded up 1961. The ceremony opening the Gateway in 1989 marked the reunion of the two nations.”
Pamphlet, Mario is Missing! (PC)

The Brandenburg Gate is a monument in Berlin, Germany.

The Brandenburg Gate in Mario Kart Tour

The Brandenburg Gate would later reappear in the Berlin Byways courses in the Mario Kart series, first appearing in Mario Kart Tour. In that game, it is driven under near the beginning of Berlin Byways 2, and near the end of Berlin Byways.

Berlin Byways later appears in wave 3 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass. In this version of the course, racers pass under the Brandenburg Gate four times throughout the race. At some points, there is a Glide Ramp in front of the Gate and/or Thwomps underneath it.
