The Biddybuggy (known as the Buggybud in the British English version of Mario Kart 8) is a kart from the Mario Kart series. It resembles a Para-Biddybud with wing-shaped exhaust pipes that move back and forth, as if flapping. The emblem is located on the forehead.

History[edit]

Mario Kart series[edit]

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

In Mario Kart 8, the Biddybuggy appears as a starter kart body part. It offers a large acceleration and handling boost at the cost of hampering ground speed, anti-gravity speed, weight, and traction. It also excels strongly with the water speed, air speed, water handling, air handling, and mini-turbo stats. The Biddybuggy shares its stats with the Landship and Mr. Scooty.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Biddybuggy's stats have been altered. Its acceleration boost is weaker, but it now offers a small traction boost. It is also far less efficient with the water speed and air speed stats, while the anti-gravity speed is not as weak as in Mario Kart 8. The Biddybuggy is still one of the lightest vehicle bodies in the game, and its ground speed remains unchanged, but it now only shares its stats with the Mr. Scooty, as the Landship's stat spread is different in this game.

When idling, the Biddybuggy's engine sound is unique, but when accelerating, it has a slightly higher pitched version of that of the Standard Kart, Pipe Frame, Teddy Buggy, Sneeker, Gold Standard, and Wild Wiggler. The engine sounds like a rally inline-four engine.

In Mario Kart 8, the CPU-controlled baby characters and Lakitu will occasionally use this body, with the babies using the Standard tires and Lakitu also using the Monster tires occasionally. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a CPU Ludwig, male and female Villager, and Isabelle are also seen occasionally using this body during races, with Ludwig using the Roller tires and the Animal Crossing characters using the Standard tires.

Although it is available right from the start in Mario Kart 8, in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Biddybuggy is an unlockable vehicle body that can be acquired by collecting coins. The Biddybuggy also appears in the scenery of GBA Ribbon Road, along with the Teddy Buggy and Standard Kart.

Color schemes[edit]

The Biddybuggy changes color depending on which character is using it; however, there are only five color schemes: red, green, pink, yellow and blue, to reflect the five colors of Para-Biddybuds.

Mario Kart Tour[edit]

The Biddybuggy returns in Mario Kart Tour, where it is classified as a Normal kart. It uses the Standard tires from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Unlike before, it only has the red color scheme no matter what driver is using it, and its wings no longer move. The blue color scheme is used for a variant of the kart called the Blue Biddybuggy, which also has the Normal classification. The Biddybuggy increases the duration of Slipstream boosts and the amount of points awarded for performing Slipstreams.

The Biddybuggy is a common item in regular tour pipes and appears in the Daily Selects lineup. Throughout the game's history, it could be obtained in other ways as well, shown below by tour.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

The Biddybuggy appears as a primary spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The spirit depicts its Mario Kart 8 artwork featuring Baby Rosalina. The spirit has one support slot, and it increases a fighter's ground mobility and jump stats at the cost of reduced weight. In the spirit's battle, the player faces a tiny-sized Rosalina and Luma on the Battlefield version of Mario Circuit. The music that plays during the battle is the music of Cloudtop Cruise from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe; this ties with the spirit's image, as in said games, the 150cc staff ghost for Cloudtop Cruise is Baby Rosalina on the Biddybuggy.
