First appearance Mario is Missing! (1993)

Mayor Linguine is a character exclusive to the PC version of Mario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor of Rome. Like all other mayors in the game, they contact Luigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Linguine states that the Koopas are stealing and disrupting traffic.

Once all of the artifacts have been recovered, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Linguine, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him luck on the rest of his adventure.

In the MS-DOS version, Linguine is depicted as a woman. In the CD-ROM Deluxe version, Linguine is depicted as a man with a beret and has a stereotypical Italian accent. In the European CD-ROM versions, like all mayors, Linguine's appearance changes every time the player starts a new game or resumes the saved file.

Quotes[edit]

  • "Luigi, this is Mayor Linguine. You made it! Is Mario with you? 'Cause we really need your help! Here's the scoop: we're up to our teeth in turtles and these reptiles are up to no good. They're either stealing stuff or disrupting traffic with their skateboards and helicopters. Check out the newspaper I transmitted to your computer and you'll see what I mean. Between you and me, you're my only hope!"
  • "Luigi. You've saved our city from the Koopas, and the people are grateful. Thank you, good luck and good bye! And say hi to Mario when you find him!"
