Mayor Devotegetter is a character exclusive to the PC version of Mario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor of Mexico City. Their name is a play on "the vote getter." Like all other mayors in the game, they contact Luigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Devotegetter states that the Koopas are stealing and disrupting traffic.

Once all of the artifacts have been recovered, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Devotegetter, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him luck on the rest of his adventure.

In the MS-DOS version, Devotegetter is depicted as a woman while the CD-ROM Deluxe version depicts them as a man.

Quotes[edit]

  • "Hey, Luigi, this is Mayor Devotegetter. Did you read the newspaper I sent ya, yet? The city is shell-shocked! As we speak, major landmarks are disappearing from under our noses. The Chief wants me to tell you that turtles, turtles! are mocking us as they make off with the loot, and I want you to make mock turtle soup out of them."
  • "Luigi. You've saved our city from the Koopas, and the people are grateful. Thank you, good luck and good bye! And say hi to Mario when you find him!"
