Isabelle appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as an Assist Trophy. She tosses fruit at the player that summoned her, which heals them when touched. Opponents can also be healed if they come into contact with the fruit. She cannot be attacked, but she flinches if opponents get too close. If the player that summoned Isabelle is knocked out, she will hunch over with a saddened expression until they return. In addition, an Isabelle costume for the Mii Fighters was released as DLC.

Isabelle returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, now as a playable character instead of an Assist Trophy. She is the second Animal Crossing fighter after Villager. Although she has attacks that function similarly to Villager's attacks but are aesthetically different (such as having Tom Nook, Timmy, and Tommy build the Town Hall around an opponent in her Final Smash, Dream Town Hall), she also has moves entirely unique from Villager (similar to certain other fighters such as Mario and Luigi) and is not classified as an Echo Fighter. Her down special move, Lloid Trap, has her plant Lloid in the ground, who shoots upwards when activated. She also, like Villager, has Pocket as one of her special attacks, as well as being able to use a net as her grab. Her side special, named Fishing Rod, uses a fishing rod that can act as a long range grab that can even land and grab opponents in water. Her tagline in her splash artwork, "Isabelle Turns Over A New Leaf!", is most likely a reference to her debut game Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

In her trailer, she is working in an office until she is given time for a break. She then receives a letter from Pete, and thanks him for his hard work. When she reads the note, she becomes surprised to learn she will be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a new fighter. After the trailer, she waves to the viewers hoping they will cheer her on in the game.

Isabelle is not seen in the opening cutscene of World of Light, but still appears as one of the puppet fighters nevertheless. Isabelle is later freed after her puppet fighter is defeated, and she subsequently joins Kirby's team against Galeem and later Dharkon.

Isabelle is a lightweight fighter, being lighter than Peach and Daisy but heavier than Little Mac, while having the same weight as Young Link and Greninja.

Isabelle's Classic Mode route, Best in Show, features all of the female fighters, including palette swaps. She engages in the battles in the following order:

  1. Villager (female) ×4 at Smashville
  2. Wii Fit Trainer, Pokémon Trainer (female), and Pikachu Libre at Wii Fit Studio
  3. Palutena, Lucina, Zelda, Corrin (female), and Robin (female) at Temple
  4. Zero Suit Samus, Bayonetta, and Samus in a team battle at Moray Towers, assisted by Inkling and Ice Climbers.
  5. Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, and Wendy at Princess Peach's Castle
  6. Sheik at Gerudo Valley
  7. Final battle against Master Hand, and also Crazy Hand on intensity 7.0 or higher, at Final Destination

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

Isabelle makes an appearance in Mario Kart 8 as one of the characters included in the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content pack, marking the first time she is playable in any game. She is one of the heavier lightweights in the game. As such, her acceleration, handling, and traction stats are lowered a little to boost her speed and weight, with her stats being identical to those of Toad, Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Lakitu, Toadette, Larry, and Wendy. Her signature vehicle is the City Tripper. Like the other lightweights, she has a small body frame. Her kart symbol is an apple from the Animal Crossing series.

Isabelle returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, where she is included in the base content and is available from the start. She now shares stats with only Toadette and Wendy.

Super Mario Maker[edit]

Two costumes based on Isabelle appear in Super Mario Maker, only available in levels using the Super Mario Bros. style. One costume depicts her in the usual green summer outfit, while the other depicts her in the winter outfit. One way to unlock these costumes is scanning their appropriate amiibo figures with the GamePad. Alternatively, the costumes can be unlocked by chance upon completing the Super Mario Challenge, although the difficulty requirement is different for each: summer outfit Isabelle can be unlocked by beating the challenge on Normal difficulty or harder, while the winter outfit Isabelle can be unlocked by beating the challenge on Expert difficulty or harder.

Isabelle's the mayor's secretary, and you couldn't ask for someone more on the ball! Well...maybe you could, but she's still full of useful info about life in the town. With her fringe and tied-up hair, she looks just like a shih-tzu! That's because she is one. And so is her twin brother, Digby. (British English)

Palutena's Guidance
  • Pit: That poor dog looks lost! I'll check its collar.
  • Palutena: That's Isabelle! She has bells on her head. That's why she Isabelle! Her day job is assistant to the mayor of some town. I hear she's the town's hardest worker. She's also cute, courageous, and modest, which is why everyone loves her!
  • Viridi: Hmph. She's overrated if you ask me.
  • Pit: No. One. Did. If Isabelle has so much going for her, why is she fighting in Smash?
  • Palutena: Yeah, it seems like a weird choice. Maybe she just wants to get some exercise.
  • Pit: There's gotta be less violent ways to get your blood pumping.
  • Palutena: She's from the same town as the Villager, so their moves are somewhat alike. She's just full of surprises, though. Be extra careful of her Fishing Rod. She'll reel you in like a fish.
  • Super Smash Blog bio: Isabelle joins the battle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf! She uses various trinkets from around the village to battle. Her side special, "Fishing Rod," not only allows her to snag and bring opponents closer, it can also be used as a recovery move.
