The reporter is a recurring character in the PC, SNES, and NES versions of Mario is Missing! She is depicted as an adult woman holding a corkboard clipped with papers; in the NES version, the reporter does not hold any objects whatsoever.
Luigi can find the reporter in every city he goes to. Luigi can ask the reporter hints on the location Luigi is travelling to or ask her about the artifacts that Luigi is holding. In the PC versions, Luigi can also ask the reporter where she saw the nearby Koopa stating the cardinal or ordinal directions of the Koopa's location.
