First appearance Mario is Missing! (1993)

Mayor Singer is a character exclusive to the PC version of Mario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor of Paris. Like all other mayors in the game, they contact Luigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Singer states that the Koopas stole the artifacts.

On behalf of Mayor Singer, for returning the stolen goods, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Singer, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him good luck on the rest of his adventure.

Like several of the other mayors, Mayor Singer is named after someone who worked on Mario is Missing!; they share a name with Valerie Singer, who is credited for writing and research.

Mayor Singer is depicted as male in the MS-DOS version. The curator in the DOS version shares the same appearance as Mayor Singer. In CD-ROM Deluxe, Singer is depicted as a woman with white hair and white glasses, reminscient to the DOS appearances of Devotegetter, Lan Slide, Linguine and Munchkins.

Quotes[edit]

  • "I'm the Mayor in this town, Singer's the name. My secretary sent you the headlines on your videophone. Okay, Luigi, I'm not going to pull any punches. The city is infested with obnoxious turtles bent on larceny. They march in, undetected, and stroll out, their little paws full of my artifacts. I'm talking to big stuff here: museums, government buildings, national treasures. Put them out of business!"
  • "Luigi. You've saved our city from the Koopas, and the people are grateful. Thank you, good luck and good bye! And say hi to Mario when you find him!"
