First appearance Mario is Missing! (1993)

Mayor Sidley is a character exclusive to the PC version of Mario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor of Nairobi. Like all other mayors in the game, he contacts Luigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Sidley states that each landmark disappears every time they close their eyes.

Once all of the artifacts have been recovered, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Sidley, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him luck on the rest of his adventure.

Like several of the other mayors, Mayor Sidley is named after someone who worked on Mario is Missing!; they share a name with Vicki Sidley, who is credited as Art Director.

Quotes[edit]

  • "Welcome, Luigi, I'm Mayor Sidley. We've been waiting for you. Things are really jumping around here. Every time we close our eyes for one second, another landmark disappears! I've sent you a newspaper -- just take a look at it! Frankly, its more than our police force can handle. Go out there and catch a Koopa. Do it for me, do it for the city, do it for Mario!"
  • "Luigi. You've saved our city from the Koopas, and the people are grateful. Thank you, good luck and good bye! And say hi to Mario when you find him!"
