Brutius Maximus Grouchimus is an overly muscular gladiator who works at the Linguini Empire Colosseum in the Linguini Empire as its guardian. His name is a reference to Roman politician Marcus Junius Brutus.

In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "The Great Gladiator Gig," Brutius Maximus Grouchimus is the one to welcome Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool to the Linguini Empire at the entrance to the Linguini Empire Colosseum. Brutius, after greeting Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool, had them follow them into the colosseum to the orphans' benefit spaghetti dinner they were promised.

It was on the way to this dinner that Brutius mentions that the benefit dinner may be canceled. A shocked Mario proceeds to ask Brutius why the dinner would be canceled, to which he explains that the catacombs of the colosseum have a plumbing problem. Mario, not wanting to miss the benefit dinner and spaghetti, promises Brutius that he and Luigi could fix whatever plumbing problem happening.

Hearing this, Brutius calls several Koopa Troopas into attendance and tells Mario and Luigi to wait where they are while he and the Koopa Troopas escorted Princess Toadstool and Toad through the colosseum and to the Linguine Empire's emperor, who was revealed to be "Emperor Augustus Septemberus Octoberus Koopa."

After introducing Princess Toadstool and Toad to the emperor and having them captured, Brutius proceeded to lead Mario and Luigi to the "plumbing problem" in the colosseum catacombs. Leading Mario and Luigi to a small corridor, Brutius suddenly calls upon several Koopa Troopas to capture them.

Mario and Luigi manage to evade capture though by commandeering a horse and chariot to escape Brutius and his Koopa Troopa henchmen, knocking them aside in the process. Brutius, in frustration, grabs two Koopa Troopas and throws them at Mario and Luigi.

Fortunately, Mario and Luigi stop these shells; unfortunately, however, their horse refuses to pull their chariot further, leading Mario having used the horse's oats to stop the pursuing shells. Despite neither having a horse nor chariot anymore, Mario and Luigi manage to run from and escape Brutius and his Koopa Troopas by bursting through a door.

Later, Emperor Augustus Septemberus Octoberus Koopa is forced out of the Linguini Empire. Brutius, having seemingly given up his evil ways, was shown to be the spaghetti cook at Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool's benefit spaghetti dinner.
