Elvin Parsley, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!

Elvin Parsley is the popular king of Sock Hop Land and rock and roll who appears in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Elvin Lives." Elvin Parsley is based on the late Elvis Presley, who was frequently referred to as the "King of Rock," specifically his younger look from the 1950's.

Prior to the events of the episode, Kool Koopa had kidnapped him from his mansion, Parsley Land, and took him to his hideout, the Half Life Malt Shop, where he locks him in a freezer room, becoming frozen. He then took over Sock Hop Land, making himself its new ruler.

Elvin also has a pair of magical blue suede shoes that speak separately by rhyming, which first appear when Mario and his friends decide to check Parsley Land for clues on Elvin's whereabouts. As Mario remarks that, despite there being many pictures and statues of Elvin Parsley, the singer himself is nowhere to be seen, the group hears tapping coming from a closet. Toad runs over and opens the door, revealing Elvin's shoes trapped inside. The shoes explain that Kool Koopa broke into Elvin's mansion, kidnapped him, and took him to his hideout, and decide to lead Mario and his friends to the hideout.

When they arrive at Half Life Malt Shop, Kool Koopa's hideout, Mario comes up with a plan that involves him, Luigi, and Toad sneaking onstage as musicians, playing music to entertain the greaser Goombas inside while Princess Toadstool and Elvin's shoes look for Elvin. The shoes and the Princess find Elvin in a freezer room frozen solid, to which the shoes explain that he will be brought back to life if Princess Toadstool puts them on Elvin's feet. However, before she can do so, she is apprehended by Kool Koopa. The shoes return to dance with Mario, Luigi, and Toad as they perform.

At the end of the episode, after Mario and his friends defeat Kool Koopa, Princess Toadstool puts Elvin's shoes on his feet, causing the ice on him to melt and bring him back to life. As he exclaims that he feels refreshed, Mario and Luigi tell the inhabitants of Sock Hop Land that the king has returned, resulting in them running to the Half Life Malt Shop to see Elvin perform.
