Mayor Lan Slide is a character exclusive to the PC versions of Mario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor of London, England. Their name is a pun of "landslide".

Like all other mayors in the game, they contact Luigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Lan Slide states that they suspect reptiles are stealing artifacts but does not want to call names. Regardless, they want Luigi to return the artifacts.

Once all of the artifacts have been recovered, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Lan Slide, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him luck on the rest of his adventure.

In the MS-DOS version, Lan Slide is depicted as a woman while the CD-ROM Deluxe version depicts Lan Slide as a man.

Quotes[edit]

  • "Hail. Mayor Lan Slide, here. This great and august city has a disease, friend. See the big stories in the paper? We think it's reptiles, but we don't want to call names. We do want our artifacts back, but we don't care what we have to do to get 'em. Sail's in your court, sir. Can you help us?"
  • "Luigi. You've saved our city from the Koopas, and the people are grateful. Thank you, good luck and good bye! And say hi to Mario when you find him!"
