First appearance Mario is Missing! (1993)

Mayor Griffeath is a character exclusive to the PC version of Mario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor of Dublin, Ireland. Like all other mayors in the game, he contacts Luigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Griffeath states that the Koopas think they are running things at Dublin. He constantly ends and pauses his sentences with "see".

Once all of the artifacts have been recovered, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Griffeath, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him luck on the rest of his adventure.

Like several of the other mayors, Mayor Griffeath is named after someone who worked on Mario is Missing!; they share a name with Jeff Griffeath, who is credited as the artist.

Quotes[edit]

  • "Welcome to our fair city. I'm Mayor Griffeath. I'm forwarding the newspapers via the videophone, but this is the deal, see. The Koopas think they're running things here now, see. But their wrong, see. It's up to you to put law back into law and order, see. I want you to drop what you're doing…ouch, not your wrench on my foot, see, and put the landmarks and things back where they belong, see?"
  • "Luigi. You've saved our city from the Koopas, and the people are grateful. Thank you, good luck and good bye! And say hi to Mario when you find him!"
