|tattle=That's a Red Chomp. It's a rabid, red, biting, chewing, chomping fool! Max HP is 6, Attack is 5, and Defense is 3. Its attacks are so powerful, we could be in a world of hurt if we don't beat it fast! ...Which is why it's really, REALLY lame that its Defense is so high. Its HP is pretty low, though, so items and special moves might just work... Just look at that color! Think someone painted it after it fell asleep at a party?

Red Chomps, as their name implies, are red-colored sub-species of Chain Chomps introduced in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Though in that game they are weaker than their black counterparts, they have the same attack pattern as regular Chomps: they lunge at their opponents in order to bite them. Red Chomps are first seen in the Glitz Pit, during Chapter 3, as members of the Major League team called Chomp Country. Their initial ranking is 2, but they eventually downgrade to Rank 3 after Mario's victory over Rawk Hawk. Several Red Chomps can also be found in the Pit of 100 Trials, on floors 54 and 59. These enemies are immune to fire attacks and they have a high defense rating.

In WarioWare: Touched!

A red Chomp appears in a souvenir "Reel-to-Reel" from WarioWare: Touched!.

A Red Chomp is featured in the Pyramid Park board of Mario Party 7. For 10 coins, it will let a player use three Dice Blocks and ride on it, moving that many spaces around the board. If the Red Chomp manages to ram another player, a star is stolen from the victim and given to the player riding the Chomp.

Template:Spmenemybox Red Chomps' latest appearance was in Super Paper Mario. These enemies are found in Castle Bleck Interior and inner sanctum. In Chapter 8-3, several Red Chomps are hiding in the basements. Unlike in the previous Paper Mario game, Red Chomps are actually stronger than regular Chain Chomps.
