Radio City Music Hall was made world-famous by the dance troupe, The Rockettes. The all-female group was started in Missouri in 1925. They took their name from The Roxy theater, the original New York City home. The Rockettes have performed their high kicks in Radio City since its opening day in 1932. The Music Hall was built to be the largest and showiest theater in the world, despite the Depression which was then at its worst. The theater is a famous Art Deco landmark.
Pamphlet, Mario is Missing! (PC)

Luigi visited the Rockefeller Center in the PC, SNES, and NES versions of Mario is Missing! after Koopas invaded and stole the city's landmarks.

In the SNES and NES versions, they stole the Statue of Prometheus, and Luigi had to find and return it to the Center. To prove it was genuine, he had to answer the following questions:

  • The statue that overlooks the skating rink is:
    • John D. Rockefeller
    • Hans Brinker
    • Prometheus
  • Rockefeller Center street closes once a year because:
    • the streetcleaners need a break. (SNES)/it's a janitors holiday (NES)
    • the ice skating rink is closed.
    • so the street will remain private property. (SNES)/it is private property. (NES)

In the MS-DOS and CD-ROM Deluxe versions, Luigi specifically visits the Radio City Music Hall, and has to rescue and return a kidnapped Rockette, answering the following questions:

  • The theatre opened at the height of the:
    • tango dance craze
    • Oscar ceremonies
    • depression
    • first World War
  • About how many people can watch a show at the theatre?
    • 6000
    • 1925
    • 2500
    • 1932

Mario Kart series

The Rockefeller Center appears again in New York Minute, debuting in Mario Kart Tour and returning in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe via the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass. Racers drive through it in all routes of the course. In particular, New York Minute 3 and the final lap of 8 Deluxe's route have racers drive through 30 Rockefeller Plaza. It is shown to have manholes that spew water into the air, as well as a Glide Ramp in New York Minute 2 and 8 Deluxe's route.

Trivia

  • This is the only landmark in Mario is Missing! that asks the player only two questions.
  • Nintendo New York is located in 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
