Variant of Fuzzy

A Fuzzy Horde, also referred to as a flood of Fuzzies,[1] Fuzzies flood,[1] swarm of Fuzzies,[2] or Fuzzy swarm,[2] is a large cluster of Fuzzies, appearing in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and its Nintendo Switch remake, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.

History[edit]

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door along with its Switch remake, a Fuzzy Horde appears at the Shhwonk Fortress, where it is summoned by the Gold Fuzzy during the battle with it after it takes enough damage. The horde attacks the player by surrounding Mario or Goombella, then having five Fuzzies leap up and land on them to deal damage. The entire horde flees after either losing 10 HP or after Gold Fuzzy is defeated. After the battle ends, the mob disperses, with the Gold Fuzzy retreating as well.

In the original game, Goombella can use Tattle on the Fuzzy Horde, but it will not be recorded in her Tattle Log, instead using the same entry as a normal Fuzzy. In the remake, the Fuzzy Horde has its own Tattle Log entry.

Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]

A Fuzzy Horde in Super Mario 3D World

In Super Mario 3D World and its Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Fuzzies appear in groups much like a Fuzzy Horde in Fuzzy Time Mine and Floating Fuzzy Time Mine. During both levels, it will move upward through the level, forcing the player to run to avoid instantly losing a life. The Fuzzy Horde starts small, but as the level progresses, it grows much larger. It is not possible to defeat them in any way. After exiting either of the two mines and nearing the Goal Pole, the Fuzzy Horde will stop immediately before it, allowing the player to rest.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit]

Fuzzy Hordes return in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. If a Paper Fuzzy takes damage three times, it will turn into a Fuzzy Horde, forcing the characters to flee.

Log A mob of Fuzzies summoned by the Gold Fuzzy. They'll attack one after another by bashing their fuzzy little bodies into you. They look like normal Fuzzies, but they won't try to drain your HP. So you've got that going for you.
Tattle It's a Fuzzy Horde! Look at 'em all! What a mob scene! The fuzz is abuzz! Max HP is 20, Attack is 1, and Defense is 0. Fuzzies come at you all at once and attack in order. Says here not to freak out! It also says that if you use good timing to defend, you won't take much damage. I'm thinking it might just be faster to whip the ringleader though, y'know?
