Zur Fernseh-Serie Super Mario Bros. - Spiele und Geschichten is a 64-page German book published by Xenos on January 1, 1991.[1][2] It is one of the three books based on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, the others being Super Mario Bros. - Wunderlandreisen and Super Mario Bros. - Wundersame Abenteuer. The book contains retellings of certain episodes from the show, such as "The Bird! The Bird!", though it also features original stories of its own, such as a story where Princess Toadstool is captured by King Koopa and his Koopa Pack and taken to his circus and the Mario Bros. and Toad disguise themselves as clowns to rescue her. The book also contains games and puzzles.

Illustration errors[edit]

  • Throughout the book, Toad uses his design from the first three episodes of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! ("The Bird! The Bird!" - "Butch Mario & The Luigi Kid"), with his color scheme swapped, but his vest is colored lavender instead of white.
    • Additionally, King Koopa's sclerae are colored white insetad of yellow throughout the book.
  • On the cover, a Piranha Plant is depicted with its flower colored orange instead of black.
  • On page 3, a Cobrat is colored green instead of red. Coincidentally, its design resembles the in-game model of Cobrats from Mario Pinball Land.
  • On page 17, several coloring errors are present with Mouser: his gloves and shoes are colored white and purple respectively instead of pink; the rim of his glasses is colored green instead of gray, and his tail is colored gray instead of skin color, though official artwork of Mouser also depicts him with a gray tail.
    • On the same page, the Bob-Omb's design is drastically different from its design in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!; its design most resembles its artwork from Super Mario Bros. Print World, but with its limbs colored white instead of tan and its shoes colored orange instead of brown.
  • On page 23, the picture for Cramalot depicts the Sacred Sink of Cramalot with a showerhead, which is absent in the actual episode.
  • Throughout the story "Die trottelige Drachenmutter" ("The scatterbrained Dragon Mother"), Mario and Luigi are depicted without the scarves and earmuffs they wore in the episode. Princess Toadstool's cape is also colored green instead of blue.
    • Additionally, the Giant Birdo's house appears drastically different in the book than in the episode, with some of the more notable differences being the color of the baby pen and the presence of a blue and green rug that was never present in the actual episode.
