Copacabana beach is one of the landmarks in Rio that Koopa Troopas steal artifacts from the PC and SNES versions of Mario is Missing!, specifically taking a Copacabana beach seashell from the beach, and Luigi's task is to find and return it. He receives 1,350 dollars for returning it, but not before answering the following questions to prove the seashell's authenticity:

  • The Copacabana beach is world famous for:

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games[edit]

Copacabana Beach later appears as an explorable space in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. In the Wii U version, it serves the role of a main menu navigated with the player's Mii, although a more traditional menu can be accessed with the Plus Button button after winning a medal from a tournament for the first time. In the 3DS version, it is one of the areas explorable in Copacabana in the Road to Rio mode.
