Big the Cat is a crossover character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series whose only appearances in the Super Mario franchise is the Mario & Sonic series. He has a best friend and pet named Froggy.

Mario & Sonic series[edit]

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games[edit]

Big is a referee of the Athletics and Rowing events in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, also appearing behind the podium in the awards ceremony of the former type.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games[edit]

Big is a VIP member in the console version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, where he gives 100 Star Points and a costume to the player, and there is an unlockable Mii outfit of him. He is also in the handheld version, at Polastraits, where he does not understand that the sign near him provides mission details, so Amy clears Alpine Skiing GS to demonstrate the concept behind missions, with Big rewarding a Spark Luge afterward.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games[edit]

There is an unlockable Mii costume in the console version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The handheld version features Big at "To the Ruins!" in Story mode, where he tries to find Froggy. Big inadvertently restores some of Omega's memory when the latter launches into him from Magikoopa's magic. Big eventually finds Froggy, so they go to London their own way. There is an obtainable badge of Big from the badge machine.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games[edit]

Big can be talked to on the Copacabana Beach to access the Pousada in the Wii U version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. There is another unlockable Mii costume of Big.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

Big makes a few cameo appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Big appears as a sticker. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, he appears as a trophy. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Big appears as a spirit.
