Variant of Gloomba
Spiked Goomba

Spiky Gloombas, previously known as Spiked Gloombas, are Gloombas with a spike on their head. Because they have a spike on their head, Mario will get hurt if he jumps on them, unless he has the Spike Shield. They are much tougher than regular Spiked Goombas.

History[edit]

Paper Mario[edit]

In Paper Mario, Spiked Gloombas appear with the other Gloomba types in Toad Town Tunnels. They have the highest base attack statistic of any Goomba in the game, though both Hyper Goomba and Hyper Paragoomba surpass it when Charged.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door along with its Nintendo Switch remake, Spiky Gloombas only appear in the Pit of 100 Trials in Rogueport Underground. They are now slightly stronger than before, still having the highest base attack of any Goomba, with their original attack amount becoming the base attack for the new Hyper Spiky Goomba. While their statistics are relatively high, they are extremely susceptible to most status effects, especially burning.

Tattle That's a Spiky Gloomba. It's a Spiky Goomba that likes dark places. Max HP is 7, Attack is 4, and Defense is 0. Its Attack is pretty high, huh? I'm sure you know this, but try not to jump on the spike. I wonder if I'd look like that if I stayed down here long enough? ...I'd rather not think about that. Are there tanning salons in Rogueport?
