Template:Species-infobox A Hyper Cleft is a bright green Cleft that is first encountered in Paper Mario at Gusty Gulch. Hyper Clefts differ in appearance from normal Clefts in they they are green and have purple shoes and eyes. They are also much faster than normal Clefts in Paper Mario and thus more likely to hit Mario outside battle. Hyper Clefts are also capable of charging their attacks to do a ton of damage, as are other "hyper" enemies. Like normal Clefts, they are spiked, so jumping on them will not work unless Mario is wearing the Spike Shield badge.
Hyper Clefts reappear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, this time in the areas surrounding Twilight Town, called Twilight Trail.
Using Quake Hammer or defense-piercing attacks are the most effective measures of defeating these Clefts.

Tattle | This is a Hyper Cleft. Hyper Clefts have more defense power than normal Clefts. Max HP: 4, Attack Power: 3, Defense Power: 3 They sometimes charge their power before attacking. That charged attack will take away 8 HP, so watch out when they start to glow. It'll miss you if you can become transparent. Their defense power will fall to 1 if you use an explosion to flip 'em over. And in case you hadn't noticed, they have spikes up top! It'll hurt if you jump on 'em. |

Tattle Log #: 82 |
Log | A hyperactive Cleft that uses charge moves to boost its Attack power to 9. | ||||||
Tattle | That's a Hyper Cleft. It's basically a Cleft that uses charged-up moves. Max HP is 4, Attack is 3, and Defense is 3. When it charges up, its Attack power rises to 9. Couple its rock-hardness with its ability to charge up... and things get scary. If you're confident, you may wanna try doing Superguards to send its attacks back... If you can't, you'd better use some items, or you'd better hightail it out of here. |
