Item Shops also appeared in Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3, Mario Party 4 and Mario Party DS. Here, players could purchase various items from the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper was a Koopa Troopa in Mario Party 2. The Bowser Land, while still having an Item Shop run by a Koopa, featured a special shop run by a Baby Bowser. When players passed this shop, they were forced to buy the item the Baby Bowser offered them. These items were sold in prices higher than those at the regular Item Shop. In Mario Party 3, the shops were randomly run by Toad or a Baby Bowser. Toad and Baby Bowser could run a single Item Shop at different times. While they both sold Skeleton Keys and Item Bags, most of the items they sold were different. Toad sold items which helped the player who used them, such as Mushrooms, and Baby Bowser sold items which put other players at a disadvantage, such as the Cursed Mushroom. In Mario Party 4, the Item Shops were run by the current board's host. In Mario Party DS, the shop is run by a Monty Mole. Item Shops were replaced by Capsule Dispensers in Mario Party 5, but the Orb Shops in Mario Party 6 and Mario Party 7 had much the same function as the Item Shops. In Mario Party 8, the Candy shops are run by different characters depending on the board and each have different shop names. In Mario Party DS, Item Shop is run by Monty Mole.
The Item Shop in Wario Land 4 sells items which assists Wario in defeating a boss. The shop is run by the Item Shopkeeper (who is actually the Black Cat/Princess Shokora).
