Headbonk is the main attack of Goombario and Goombella in Paper Mario and its sequel. Headbonk targets one enemy on the ground or in the air, flips over shelled enemies, and hurts the bonker if used against enemies with spikes, etc. If the player hits at the moment before impact, the attack will hit twice. In short, it is their version of Mario's Jump attack.
Headbonk deals one damage per hit initially. This increases to two at Super Rank and three at Ultra. The move's 2-hit pattern limits its usefulness against foes with Defense, but also gives it greater effect from Power Plus P badges.
The only thing that distinguishes Goombella's Headbonk from Goombario's is her Stylish Move, which is activated by pressing right before her feet leave the ground.
In most Paper Mario games, enemy Goombas also attack Mario and/or his partners with this move. However, in Super Paper Mario, only the Headbonk Goomba and Dark Headbonk Goomba, as their names suggest, attack with Headbonks. Other Goombas attack by ramming into Mario and friends.
