In the PC, SNES, and NES versions of Mario is Missing!, the angel is stolen by Koopa Troopas raiding the city of Mexico City, Mexico. While the angel is absent, the Angel of Independence is closed until Luigi tracks down the angel and returns it.

- Boy: "Even the locals use the 150-foot cherub as a landmark. Be an angel and return it."
