Refreshing Herbs are items in the Mario & Luigi series used to get rid of any status ailments on the playable character, such as Poison or Fury. Refreshing Herbs resemble four-leaf clovers, and they can generally be bought in shops for low prices. They can also occasionally be found in ? Blocks.
In Mario & Luigi: Brothership exclusively, they can be used to substitute an Ampberry, attempting to cure the Glohm status effect with a 50% rate of success.
In EarthBound, items called Refreshing Herbs have exactly the same name and function as in the Mario & Luigi series, although they resemble flowering tree branches instead of four-leaf clovers.
History
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Refreshing Herbs are sold at Castle Town Item Shop and Little Fungitown Item Shop from the first visit, and one can be purchased for 30 coins.
Refreshing Herbs can also be found from certain enemies, which have a chance of dropping a Refreshing Herb when defeated. Regardless of which version of the game is played, Fuzzbushes, Yellow Viruses, Pestnuts on the Seabed, and Puffer-Cheeps can drop Refreshing Herbs. However, some enemies can only drop Refreshing Herbs in the Japanese version of the game, including Cheep Cheeps, Glurps, and Queen Bean, who is guaranteed to drop a Refreshing Herb if either her left or right arm is deflated when she is defeated. Conversely, Blue Viruses and Limbo Bros. in Guffawha Ruins cannot drop Refreshing Herbs in the Japanese version, but can drop them in the North American and European versions.
The following is a table of enemies which can drop Refreshing Herbs, and their standard and rare drop rates in each version of the game:
Enemy | Standard drop rate (North American/European version) | Standard drop rate (Japanese version) | Rare drop rate (North American/European version) | Rare drop rate (Japanese version) |

note - In the Japanese version, Glurps are guaranteed to drop a Refreshing Herb if the Game Boy Horror SP is equipped on either Mario or Luigi, but the item cannot be stolen using the Advanced version of Swing Bros.
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, Refreshing Herbs cost only 10 coins. The set of enemies which can drop the item has also been changed, and the drop rates are now uniform across all versions of the game. These are the enemies which can drop Refreshing Herbs and their updated drop rates:

Red Virus | 24% |
Elite Pestnut | 26% |
Spiny Cheep Cheep | 30% |
Glurp | 21% |
Elite Dry Bones | 26% |
Spiny Cheep Cheeps are also guaranteed to drop Refreshing Herbs if they are defeated with the Super version of Swing Bros., or if the brother who defeats them has the Game Boy Horror SP equipped.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
In Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Refreshing Herbs can be purchased from any general item shop in the game for 30 coins. They become available in these shops after Bowser is defeated in Dream's Deep. Enemies that drop Refreshing Herbs include Grumbells and Spritzblooms with a drop rate of 5%, as well as Monolifts R and Krubbishes with a drop rate of 10%.
