Patriarc is Arc's father and a minor but pivotal character in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. His name is a pun on the word "patriarch". Like his son, he has teal skin and wears a sailor hat with a compass on it.
After the Uni-Tree was destroyed and Concordia was split, Patriarc and Arc were kidnapped by Snaptors and taken to a Great Lighthouse. Patriarc locked his son in a capsule and threw it into the sea so he could escape, with Arc eventually washing ashore Shipshape Island. Patriarc, meanwhile, stayed behind to spy on the Extension Corps, leaving behind notes detailing their plans in each Great Lighthouse.
Patriarc's fourth note ends suddenly, leaving his fate unknown. However, it is revealed in the credits that he did survive, with him reuniting with his son.
Patriarc's notes[edit]
Note 1 (Lushgreen Sea)[edit]
This note can be found when Mario and Luigi kill the Gobblick, the guardian of the Great Lighthouse Island of the Lushgreen Sea. It is to the monster's right (from the perspective of someone who entered the room from the cave area), just before the stairs that lead to the elevator.[1]
There's a fishy trio workin' like crazy trawling up a whole mess of Spite Bulbs. What in crustaceans are they planning to do with so many of the rotten things? "How many Spite Bulbs do we need for this?" "Who knows? Just get all you can." I'm logging all this ominous stuff, hoping this info gets to a hero who can help. From history's front lines, Patriarc.
Note 2 (Color-Full Sea)[edit]
This note is found in the Color-Full Sea's Great Lighthouse Island in the room with nicer Concordian persons following the one with the patrolling Concordian guards.[2]
As the people are forced to make Glohm all day and night in terrible conditions, I've heard this: "We're so lucky to have our great Lord Zokket." "I got goosebumps when the land split apart!" "I bet the next stage of his plan will be even more incredible. I can't wait to see it!" I am fit to burst with anger, but I'll keep recording, for the sake of the world's hero. Note 3 (Brrrning Sea)[edit]
This note is found in the Great Lighthouse Island of the Brrrning Sea, more specifically in a room with a Save Block, some ice spheres, and tanks containing Spite Bulbs following a Concordian guard section. It is to the left of the entrance to the next room.[3]
Zokket's here, the big fish. He's always creepy, but today he's even more off-kilter. He was talking to an egg. A weird egg. "Only 67 more... Almost done... Heheheh..." "Just wait a little longer. Very soon now..." I was shaking in my boots but kept recording. It's my duty to the hero who will save us. From history's front lines, Patriarc.
Note 4 (Gulchrock Sea)[edit]
When the gang gets to the fourth floor in the Great Lighthouse Island of the Gulchrock Sea, this note is found to the northeast of the main elevator.[4]
If I got hit by this Glohm ray, would I stop caring about my son? I get that Zokket wants to make the world lonely, but I don't understand why. He sure likes talking to his egg though. Maybe even he enjoys "parenting" it. ...Wait. Who is that? No! It can't be!
After the last word, Snoutlet notes that the text is too messy to read, preventing players from learning what Patriarc found out.
