Because it has a spike on its head, Mario will get hurt if he jumps on it, unless he has the Spike Shield. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, they appear in the Pit of 100 Trials in the Rogueport Sewers. They are much tougher than a regular Spiky Goomba.
