Hyper Goombas are green Goombas capable of charging their attacks to increase their attack power to eight points. They appear in the first two Paper Mario games.
History[edit]
Paper Mario[edit]
In Paper Mario, Hyper Goombas are depicted as savage Goombas that live in Gusty Gulch, including the space beneath the Windy Mill. They are the most powerful Goombas in the game when charged, and have the highest amount of hit points of any of the typical enemy varieties. They appear along with a flying subtype, the Hyper Paragoomba, along with a similar enemy called Hyper Cleft. Goombario recommends becoming transparent if the player sees one charging.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door along with its Nintendo Switch remake, Hyper Goombas are found in Twilight Trail and are merely described as hyperactive rather than uncivilized. They act mostly the same as before aside from minor base statistic boosts and appear alongside Hyper Paragoombas and a new subtype, the Hyper Spiky Goomba, as well as Hyper Cleft. Goombella suggests fleeing if one charges, as at the point they are first encountered Vivian has not joined to make becoming invisible simple.

Tattle | This is a Hyper Goomba. Hyper Goombas are crazy, uncivilized Goombas living in Gusty Gulch. Max HP: 7, Attack Power: 1, Defense Power: 0 They sometimes charge their power before attacking. That charged attack will take away 8 HP, so watch out when they start to glow. It's a good idea to use Bow or an item to become transparent. The attack will miss for sure. |

Tattle | That's a Hyper Goomba. Which means... Umm... It's a hyperactive Goomba. Duh! Max HP is 8, Attack is 2, and Defense is 0. But if this nut goes BIZZ-ZOW and charges up, his Attack power will be 8 next turn! So you'd better wipe it out between the time it charges up and the time it attacks! And if you can't beat him, then run away, OK? |
