Template:Species-infobox Humans are one of the many sapient species that appear throughout the Mario franchise. They are not nearly as numerous as other species, such as Toads, Piantas, Goombas, and Koopa Troopas, with the exception of the Metro Kingdom.

Some instances of humans are implied. For example, the skeletons of what appear to be humans can be found shackled in chains in several of the sunken ships in the area Gloomy Galleon in the game Donkey Kong 64.

In an early version of Super Mario Sunshine, human citizens were originally planned to appear, but were removed for an unknown reason. One human disguised as a Pianta, Il Piantissimo, remains in the final game.

In New Donk City from Super Mario Odyssey, realistic humans known as New Donkers are the local species, forming most of the city's population. With the exception of New Donkers, most humans in the Mario franchise are designed either cartoonishly (like Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach) or have a more anime look to them (the various NPCs in older Mario Golf and Mario Tennis games.
