“All I did was tell him it was too early to give up on his life's dream. And I suggested he try training a golfer to rival the likes of Mario!”
Bud, Mario Golf: Advance Tour

Bud is the manager of the Marion Course in Mario Golf for the Game Boy Color and Mario Golf: Advance Tour. He appears to be a balding, middle-aged man with a mustache, wearing a reddish shirt in Mario Golf and wearing a white and red shoes in Mario Golf: Advance Tour.

In Mario Golf, Bud, who is unnamed, welcomes the player on their first day as a golf student and introduces them to Pro and the Caddie Master. He is also the one to give the player their trophy each time they win a tournament.

In Mario Golf: Advance Tour, Bud first appears when the player starts a new game, walking towards their selections for player character and handedness. Like in Mario Golf, he greets the player on their first day (along with the other new students and Kid), although only Pro is waiting in the room with him. While Pro is surprised to see Kid again, Bud was expecting him, explaining that after Kid stopped showing up to the Marion Club, he contacted Bud about how he could no longer play golf. Bud helped Kid through his despair by telling him to not give up on his dreams and suggesting that he could train new golfers. When Kid reveals that he feels healthy enough to play golf again and wishes to train alongside the new students, Bud is concerned at first, but soon approves of his plan.

Notes

  • If the player continually swaps between Neil and Ella on Mario Golf: Advance Tour's character select screen, Bud will become more persistent about the player needing to choose a character. Should the player choose to continue doing swapping, Bud will come to conclusion that the player wants to play as him and become flattered.
