First appearance | Mario is Missing! (1993) |
The Cable Car Bell is an item solely in the DOS and Deluxe versions of Mario is Missing! It is, as its name suggests, a bell that is attached to a Cable Car. When it is thieved by some Koopa Troopas from its proper place in San Francisco, the whole cable cars system shut down in response. It is later taken back by Luigi after he fights off the Koopa Troopa that stole it; as he does not recognize it, he shows it to other people within the city. Everyone recognizes it as belonging to the cable cars, and provide additional information about them, such as how cable cars are operated by "gripsmen" (the proper term is actually "gripmen"[1]). Eventually, Luigi learns enough that he is able to return it to the cable car's information booth, and he is awarded $1280.
