Skating Shy Guys[1] (also referred to as simply Shy Guys[2]) are Shy Guys that appear primarily across the Mario Kart series. They are found in icy environments.

History[edit]

Mario Kart series[edit]

Skating Shy Guys appear in GCN Sherbet Land, which debuts in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and returns in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as a retro course. The Skating Shy Guys skate around the course on ice skates and occasionally twirl into the air. They also serve as obstacles for the racers, slowing them down if they hit them. They come in blue and red varieties; the blue ones skate by themselves, while the red ones skate together holding hands. Skating Shy Guys reappear in Mario Kart Tour in the Rogers Arena section of Vancouver Velocity 2's R and T variants, Vancouver Velocity 3 and GBA Snow Land R, where they skate around the ice, though in Vancouver Velocity 2T, they twirl in one spot instead.

Mario Pinball Land[edit]

In Mario Pinball Land, Shy Guys on Skates[3] appear as enemies in the Frosty Frontier Stage. In addition to blue and red, they also appear in green and yellow.

Mario & Sonic series[edit]

In the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games and in Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Shy Guys wearing ice skates appear as goalies in the each of these games' respective hockey modes.

Mario Sports Mix[edit]

Shy Guys on skates also appear on the Mario Stadium in Mario Sports Mix, where they reprise their role as hockey goalies from the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olymic Games.
