Vortex Island
The Laundry Guy in the North American and Japanese version of the laundry room

The Laundry Guy is a Shy Guy who appears in the American and Japanese versions of Paper Mario: Color Splash. He is found in the laundry room on Vortex Island sitting on a chair reading a book, while watching over the laundry. After Mario and Huey squeeze the Washing Machine Thing into a Battle Card, however, the Laundry Guy berates them for wringing it out while his clothes were still in the wash, and begins to fight them. Shortly after his defeat, three more enemies whose clothes were also in the Washing Machine (a Shy Guy 5-Stack, a Koopa Troopa, and a Shady Sledge Bro) burst into the laundry room in succession to fight Mario.

The Laundry Guy is absent in the European and Australian versions of the game, as it features an entirely different laundry room and Washing Machine design. Instead, he is replaced by a regular red Shy Guy who appears from behind a rock shortly after Mario obtains the Washing Machine, though he still utters the same quotes as the Laundry Guy.[1]

Quotes[edit]

  • "Today is a perfect day for doing laundry. I chucked in all the dirty stuff that's been piling up lately."
  • "How dare you wring that out! It was right in the middle of the spin cycle!"
  • "Hey, look—it's the jerk who wrung out the washing machine while all of my laundry was still in it..."
