Variant of Shy Guy

Bomb Guys are enemies that appear in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World in the levels Shy but Deadly, Naval Piranha's Sewer, and King Bowser's Castle. They are a species of Shy Guy that either carry a bomb or can create an infinite number of bombs. In either case, Yoshi's tongue prioritizes eating a held bomb over the Shy Guy. Yoshi can make use of these bombs to destroy objects and enemies. If a Bomb Guy holding a bomb is defeated, the bomb drops to the ground and explodes on contact. Exploding bombs damage enemies, obstacles, and Yoshi regardless of who threw/dropped/spit out the bomb. Bombs can cause chain reactions, with one room in Shy but Deadly being based upon this.

Bomb Guys that only carry a bomb walk left and right. The ones in the chain reaction based room hold larger bombs that Yoshi cannot eat; this does not allow Yoshi to eat the Shy Guy. If these Bomb Guys are defeated without destroying their bomb, the bomb reverts to normal size. In that room, defeating all of the Bomb Guys turns off the bomb creating Warp Pipes and causes beads and a Smiley Flower to appear. Bomb Guys that throw bombs are stationary. They aim straight ahead and toss their bombs in fixed arcs. They do not turn to face Yoshi. They will finish their throwing animation even if the bomb is taken by Yoshi while it is in their hands. In between throws, they have to create another bomb. Some of them can be found on the top of Shy Guy Towers.

In the boss fight with Naval Piranha, Bomb Guys appear out of pipes in the background and throw bombs at the player in the foreground. The bombs can be used to damage Naval Piranha.

One Bomb Guy appears in the credits, where Poochy chases it around the Moon. It ultimately trips, causing its bomb to go flying and hit Kamek and Baby Bowser. Baby Bowser lands on the moon and uses another bomb to play fetch with Poochy, only for Poochy to return with the explosive. The blast spins the Moon around while sending Bowser Jr. flying off
