Freestyle Ski Cross is a Freestyle Sking Event that appears in Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The objective of the event is to complete the course in the fastest time, with the event taking place in the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park. Toads and Chao appear as referees in this event.

Gameplay[edit]

In this event, the player start by swinging the Wii Remote down when "Go!" appears onscreen. Doing so with perfect timing will give the player a starting dash, however doing so too early will cause their start to be delayed. The player can also gain an extra boost by charging up power using B Button with the right timing before starting the event. Once the event has started, the player can turn their character by tilting the Wii Remote left and right. The player can also cause their character to crouch and go faster by tilting the Wii Remote forward, and can twist it left and right to turn while crouching. When the player approaches jumps on the course, the player can swing the Wii Remote upwards to jump, with a swing closer to the edge of the jump giving them a larger speed boost when taking off and more air time, potentially allowing them to avoid other jumps on the course. The player can also gain a speed boost when landing the jump by swinging the Wii Remote down as the character touches back down on the snow. Small speed boosts can also be gained by hitting the flags on the edges of the course. The character that completes the course in the fastest time wins.
