“Who is this Gonzales rookie? A cocky idiot, that's who! Waiting just makes us mad!”

The Goomba Bros.

Goomba Bros. a.k.a the Hoppin' Hardheads, and later the Meteorite Hardheads, are a group of five Goombas encountered in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. They are the first opponents Mario challenges in Glitz Pit, where they are known as the "Meteorite Hardheads."

Like most other fighters, they brag about how good they are and talk trash. However, they are simply Goombas and the weakest enemies in the Glitz Pit. The Goomba Bros. prove to be cheaters, taking a swing at Mario before the fight even begins, resulting in an unavoidable First Strike at Mario even if the Chill Out badge is equipped. The Goomba Bros. then say it was a warm up for Mario and he should be thanking them.

The Goomba Bros. are ranked 19th in the Glitz Pit but will be ranked 20th when Mario (known as The Great Gonzales) defeats them.

Tattle That's a Goomba. Umm... Yeah, I'm one of those, in case you hadn't noticed. Ahem... It says here: "Goombas are underlings of underlings." ...That is totally rude! Their maximum HP is 2. They have an Attack power of 1 and a Defense of 0.

Trivia

  • The Goomba Bros. are the only fighters who fight as a team to consist of more than four members with five in total.
  • Ironically, if game mechanics were involved, the Goomba Bros. could actually rise up past the KP Koopas as Goombas have an advantage in flipping Koopas over upside down, leaving them completely defenseless.
