The Iron Adonis Twins, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

The Iron Adonis Twins, also known as The Armored Harriers, is a team consisting of the only two Iron Clefts that appear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door along with its Nintendo Switch remake. They are brothers, with the older one wearing red shoes and the younger one wearing green shoes, referencing Mario and Luigi's primary colors. This combination of red and green appears often in the Super Mario franchise.

History[edit]

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]

Initially, the Iron Adonis Twins are ranked 10th in Glitz Pit. They hold a grudge against Mario after Grubba tells them some trash talk that he accredits to Mario (namely the reference to outies running in the family, since their mother has an outie). The Iron Adonis Twins are made of iron that Mario cannot break through. He is only able to defeat these two Iron Clefts with the help of Yoshi, who can take an enemy into his mouth with his tongue and spit them back at the other enemy with his Gulp attack.

The Iron Adonis Twins are downgraded to the Minor League after Mario and his allies beat them, and they form a grudge against Mario. When Mario has to visit the Minor League locker room while searching for the Dubious Documents, the Iron Adonis Twins threaten to fight outside the ring.

When Mario defeats the Shellshockers, the Iron Adonis Twins barge into the ring and pick another fight with Mario.

Despite the twins' grudge against Mario, they, along with Jolene, King K, Rawk Hawk, and a few others cheer him on in his battle against the Shadow Queen.

In the Nintendo Switch remake, the battle condition against the Iron Adonis Twins during Chapter 3 is always to use a partner move at least once. Mario can be given different battle conditions when fighting the Iron Adonis Twins after Chapter 3.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

The Iron Adonis twins appear in volume 33 of Super Mario-kun, in which Yoshi Kid defeats them.

Log No attacks can pierce the Defense of this hard, metallic Cleft. Are they impossible to defeat???
Tattle That's an Iron Cleft. That guy is SCARY. Period! Max HP is 6, Attack is 4, and Defense is...UNKNOWN?!? What's WITH this book? It says no attack will work against Iron Clefts! It says nothing in the world is as hard as an Iron Cleft, so its Defense is impenetrable. If that's true, the only way to beat one is to whack it with the other one... Running away may not be a bad idea at this point.

Tattle That's an Iron Cleft. The green shoes mean...this one must be the younger brother! Max HP is 6, Attack is 4, and Defense is...UNKNOWN?! What's WITH this book? Field Tattles[edit]

Outside of battle, Goombella can use Tattle on the Iron Adonis Twins only when Mario revisits the minor-league locker room for a mission given by Jolene (under the alias of "X") after receiving the Super Hammer.
