Veil is a move that can be performed by Vivian in the game Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It costs 1 FP to use. The Action Command requires the player to correctly input the indicated five-button combination of A Button and B Button within a time limit. When performed successfully, it causes Mario and Vivian to hide in the shadows for one turn, forcing every enemy attack to miss that turn, similar to Lady Bow's Outta Sight from Paper Mario. On the following turn, they both return to the fight and Vivian is forced to skip her next move. However, Mario’s next turn is only skipped if he used his move during the same turn Vivian uses Veil. Otherwise, Mario will be able to act when Veil ends. Because of this, Veil is primarily suited for dodging charged attacks, and may be more strategically effective for Vivian to use Veil first before Mario makes a move.

A Stylish move can be performed as Vivian and Mario fully exit the ground. This particular Stylish gives very little Star Power, and if the Stylish move is not performed then the attack gives no SP at all.

Outside of battle, Veil can be performed by pressing X Button in the overworld to plunge into the shadows. This can be used to escape from the sight of enemies, overhear NPC conversations, or dodge moving obstacles.
