- —Battle text, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch)
Allergic[1] is a status condition in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door that has the effect of preventing further status condition changes. In the original game it indicated with an icon with a flashing general prohibition sign. In the Nintendo Switch remake, the icon depicts a figure inside a green-tinted bubble or shield.
Description
An affected character will be immune to all status condition changes for the duration of the effect. However, Allergic will not remove status conditions that are already applied to the character. Allergic prevents both positive and negative changes, meaning the affected character will not benefit from using items or abilities that grant positive status changes (e.g. Power Punch's Huge status, Dodgy Fog's Dodgy status, and Power Lift's Attack and Defense Power boosts), nor be affected by any harmful status (e.g. poison, confusion, dizziness, sleepiness).
Mario and his partners can only become affected by this status by being hit with Beldam's No Status attack, the Shadow Queen's Dangerous Breath attack, or by consuming Space Food.
In the original game, the message that appears when Mario or his partner are affected by this condition incorrectly states "Status hasn't changed!". This is corrected in the Nintendo Switch version to "Can't be affected by status changes!"
