Template:Item-infobox Wooden cutouts (also known as boards) are objects designed after various objects and entities that first appear in Super Mario 3D Land.
History
Super Mario series
Super Mario 3D Land
In Super Mario 3D Land, boards can take the design of Goombas, 1-Up Mushrooms, and Warp Pipes (referred to as Goomba Boards[1], 1-Up Mushroom Boards[2], and Pipe Boards[3], respectively) and occasionally give the player items when broken. They block Mario's path but can be jumped on or broken using either Tanooki Mario's tail, a roll, or a Ground Pound. In World 8-Bowser: Part 1, there is a board shaped like Princess Peach at the exit of the castle when Bowser is defeated for the first time, but Bowser shows up and crushes the board. If the player replays the level, only some fragments of the board exist there.
Super Mario 3D World
A board shaped like Bowser also appears in Super Mario 3D World, in Shadow-Play Alley, scaring Captain Toad.
Mario Kart series
Mario Kart 7
Some Goomba boards appear in the Mario Kart 7 course Piranha Plant Slide. They can be broken by driving into them, but they will respawn some time after. There is also one bush board that stands between the fences in an off-road area at the end of the course.
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Boards reappear on the returning Piranha Plant Slide track in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. They have the same function as in Mario Kart 7.
Mario Kart Tour
In Mario Kart Tour, wooden cutouts of Piranha Plants appear in Yoshi Circuit and a course inspired by Paris, obstructing shortcuts. They can be broken by driving through them. If a racer does so without using a Mushroom, they will spin out and lose coins.
