Vases,[1] also called pots[2][3] or flower pots,[4] are interactable objects in several Yoshi platform games, mainly those in the Yoshi's Island series.
History
Yoshi franchise
In the Yoshi franchise, vases first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They are about Yoshi's size, and they are often found in castles. They can be pushed down, breaking when they fall off a platform and revealing contents (usually a key). One of these vases is even "powered up" by Kamek, forming Roger the Potted Ghost. Vases also appear on Incoming Chomps' platforms in Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, though they are not there in the original game.

Mario Kart series
On the Yoshi's Island course in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart Tour, two vases can be seen on ledges in front of windows inside the castle.
